'13 VA LB E.J. Levenberry (FSU commit)

EJ was big on the Vols before sirmon left. In fact he would have been one of our earliest commits. Himself and his father love the Vols. The more we show progress, and grit like we did against NC state with our LB, the more i like our chances pulling him.

I agree, our defense looked alot better than last years.Loved how they were swarming to the ball and tackling was much better! Our coverage definatly needs some work. Our defense can only get better as the season progresses. If we win 8-9 games like I think we will,we should end up with a top 10 recruiting class.IMO

Rivals has him list as a "soft verbal" FSU committment...Anything is possible especially w/ Sal in his ear.:cool2:

All that means is he's taking visits. I haven't seen any indications that he'll seriously look around, but yes, anything is possible. He really liked UT when Sirmon was here.

I am admittedly leaning on Skeeter here, but you have to like our chances with Levenberry. I cannot imagine a better situation for elite level LBs than Tennessee. Not only do we have one of, if not the best LB coach in the nation as our DC, but we also are very thin there, especially at ILB. If you are good enough, you are looking at early playing time and a spot in the two deep. We use a base 3-4 scheme which means that the stats and glory mostly goes to the LBs, and we are very multiple which makes you more valuable to prospective teams at the next level.

Finally, and this is certainly not unimportant, all of a sudden (seemingly) we are a team that is in a sharply upward trajectory, and will be playing for championships perhaps as soon as this year. It doesn't get much better than what Tennessee has to offer.

Im just curious as to what skeeter has said to get everyone excited about this guy?...

Also just because we have won ONE game against a decent opponent does not mean that we will be playing for a championship this year. We COULD play for the SEC championship this year, but that would be under perfect circumstances... be reasonable (im aware that asking that on this site is like asking your kids not to peak at their xmas presents before xmas morning) but cmon guys

Just that he likes Sal and is currently listening to us. Also HG has said there are rumblings that his dad is not happy with FSU currently due to the lack of love they have been showing him lately.

Mike Farrell also said that he thinks E.J would have committed to UT if there wasn't all the talk about the coaches not being here next year.

Highly doubt he meant a NC. But winning the East is definitely within reach.

Maybe someone could explain this to me, because I don't understand the concept of "not getting enough love". They offered the scholarship, you accepted it. What more do you want? If I was a star athlete (lol), and I had made my decision, my parents wouldn't want the school bothering me anymore unless it was necessary. I can understand if promises were broken or he is being recruited over but that doesn't seem to be the case here. If you wanted to be wooed and courted by a school then you should hold out and wait to commit.

FredDWhite...

Loosen up a bit and please read what I actually wrote in my post which must not be what you think I said:

"all of a sudden (seemingly) we are a team that is in a sharply upward trajectory, and will be playing for championships perhaps as soon as this year."

Given the relatively weakened state of the SEC East the past few years, it would appear that UGA is the team most likely to block a bid for the SEC East championship this year. If we get by Florida and USCe (likely, in my opinion) then I believe we have a real chance to end up atop the SEC East and would face the winner of the West for the SEC Championship. That is a very possible scenario, not some wild proposition that is unreasonable.

Note that I carefully said that we seemingly are on an upward trajectory that will result in us playing for championships perhaps as soon as this year. What you wrote states pretty much the same thing I said using different words. Given the relatively weak state of the SEC east, I don't think my statement was overboard or is a result of an overdose of Orange.

Our fans are scary plain and simple. They should watch more than UT and they'll realize we look better physically than around 90-95% of the teams out there. There isn't a team in the country that's just head and shoulders above us. Some teams have more depth but as far as starting talent and true playmakers we can compete with any program out there. And our QB is a special player that I wouldn't trade for any other QB in the country.

I think he'll be the difference next sat, a HUGE differene

Yep it seems he is opening his recruitment up a little. CLT just visited him while visiting J Allen and appears J Allen is recruiting him to UA along with one of our top 2014 targets is talking to EJ as well. Should get interesting with his recruitment.

If LT pulls Levenberry, it goes to show the pull of Bama and Saban and not the recruiter. LT always pulled great talent in his first stop there and was basically average here. We assumed Sal had the mid-Atlantic on lock down based on his time at Bama now we see that's not the case (though things can very well change).

An elite recruiter to me is someone who can pull players from all over despite their lack of ties to the area and convince guys to take a chance on a less than ideal situation (moving, struggling program, etc.). Tosh Lupoi is elite, despite maybe being a little shady.

Sorry for the rant, just frustrating seeing LT pull elite talent and knowing he has very little to do with it.
