ATH Ricky Seals-Jones #4 *COMMITTED TO TEXAS* Sealy HS (Junior Highlights) - YouTube

Please merge if needed, but couldn't dig up a thread on him. Recently decommitted from Texas, wants to play both Football and Basketball at the next level. Not showing a UT offer and I'm sure he will end up at either TX, LSU or Baylor, but any chance Coach Martin would have any room for him playing both ways?

The basketball team already has limited schollies, and the wing position isn't really a need. The basketball team needs a PG and a big-man. I highly doubt we get involved.

He would not count towards basketball scholarship numbers. If you play football, you count towards those numbers, regardless of whatever other sport you play.

I understand that. I may have poorly worded my statement because that is not the point I was trying to make. My bigger point is that he's not a need on the basketball team, assuming he's a wing player based on his measurables. I hope CCM pursues him, but I don't see it. He was a junior AA in basketball.

Is he a good enough WR to offer? (not where I can watch film)

I guess I don't get your point. You mentioned limited scholarships, which is irrelevant. Who cares if we need a wing or not. It's not really about team need. It's about whether or not Martin would allow him to join the team. If he can play, I doubt Martin says no. It's really more of a matter of whether Dooley will allow him to play both sports, then a matter of whether CCM will let him. I don't think team need from the basketball perspective is going to play a huge role. As a walk-on essentially, there will not be much invested by the basketball coaches. If he can play and get the playbook down, he'll get time, if not, he'll sit the bench like 95% of other D-1 athletes who attempt to do play both sports.

Baylor comes to mind with the recent success they have had on the hardwood and the gridiron

Yea, this is from the article in reference to that...

"It is believed that this decision could have something to do with his desire to play both football and basketball in college, which LSU and Baylor Bears both have given him the option to do."

It says Texas is still his #1, they'd dumb to tell him he can't play bball too if he's the best in the nation. Most guys don't end up playing both anyway.

Didnt bother to read the article, just thought that Baylor may be a big player.

Top-rated receiver Ricky Seals-Jones (Sealy, Texas/Sealy) committed to Texas in February, then decommitted in June. He's considering offers that include UT, Oregon, Texas A&M, Baylor, Oklahoma, Notre Dame and LSU.

Seals-Jones does not count Alabama among his favorites, but a phone conversation with Saban ranks near the top of his most memorable encounters.

And let's just say he's not into sugarcoating his message.

"He told me, 'If you want to come to Alabama, you can. If not, so be it,' " Seals-Jones said. "I was like, 'Whoa, I wasn't really expecting that one.' It shows me that he doesn't beat around the bush."

I honestly think that CDD is cut from that same mold.

Unfortunately, Dooley doesn't have the luxury of saying that like Saban. Alabama is going to have a top five recruiting class every year because of their success. Dooley does not have that clout.

This.....

That's why hot sauce recruiting has it's place at times. UGA does great job of balancing it out.
