As for the delusional part, it would be one thing if it was maybe one kid from the local area, but up to this point we have used 3 scholarships, 2 of which, have not even been evaluated yet by major recruiting services.

I would argue that one would be delusional for thinking that high level blue chip recruits come from this area and none of the major recruiting services nor major universities have evaluated most of these hidden gems people think we have.

As for the rest of the nonsense, namecalling, etc. let's stick with football and realize not everyone is going to share one uniform opinion. That's what message boards are for to share opinions, vent, cheer, whatever makes one happy.

I don't want to argue with you. Just consider these things. Yes, overall competition in some other states are better. The competition has nothing to do with his ability though.
Recruiting services use camps mostly to evaluate players. Ive seen players drop in rivals ranking just because they didn't continue to go to a camp or they shut down their recruiting when they commit.
Our staff knows what talent looks like and when they see it for themselves, they take action.

During the camp, Smith twice was matched up against Top247 cornerback Brendan Langley of Marietta, Ga. — one of Tennessee’s top targets at the position — and he said he ended up beating Langley both times.

I think he will make a lot of people eat there words. Dooley has landed some pretty solid players in-state that a lot of us bashed. Young has turned out great on special teams and will get some carries at rb. He really ran hard in the spring game and was impressive. He probably ran harder than any other back that day.

Blanc played a pretty good game as well. I believe he will contribute this season on special teams and will develop into a solid player.

Smith may not be on the field much his first season but I expect him to get a lot of pt his rs soph. Or Jr year. I get the panic by some of the fans bc we all want to get back on top, but just bc a player hasn't been evaluated by the recruiting services don't really mean much. They're for us fans not the coaches. Also seeing he beat one of top corner prospects 1 on 1, not once but 2 times, is great to hear.

Maybe someone who does can fill us in on the details?

See last page my post. It's just news from the last time he camped here and beating Langley two times one-on-one

Something I didn't add to my first post- Langley ended up having to hold him one the first play to keep from getting beat( on 10 yard line) .

Smith said he talked with some of the other prospects who attended the camp, and he did his best to convince some of them to join him in playing at Tennessee. “I talked to Tarean (Folston) — I don’t even know his last name; he’s a running back,” Smith said, referring to the Top247 running back from Cocoa, Fla. “I talked to him, and then I talked to (quarterback) Riley Ferguson, and then he committed, so I thought that was funny. But that’s really the two I talked to the most — and that tight end (Lucas Wilson). He’s a beast. “I was just like, ‘I committed the other day. Y’all should commit, too.’ I was just like, ‘You’ll love it.’”

Smith will not be our recruiting coordinator.

I'm hoping Josh Smith can be our Ryan Broyles.

Not outstanding measurables but awesome at getting open, tremendous hands and the ability to make every catch in traffic.

Broyles actually got picked up by the Detroit Lions i believe, If he comes back from the ACL tear, the Lions could have a steal in that guy. IMO.

I'd be more than happy if he's that type of WR. Broyles always got wide open out of no where.

If Josh Smith can put up a fourth of Ryan Broyles' career numbers than that should be considered a success.

And I know you weren't comparing them from a talent standpoint.
