'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

Just because he has more offers is not a definitive answer. I think many of those offers envision him on defense. I have a feeling it might not even stick with football anyways.

Sorry but I think that a lot of college coaches disagree with you. He has a pretty nice list of offers. To me offer lists say a helluva lot.

Per 247, Bama seems to be interested in Elder. They are going to evaluate him throughout his basketball season and go from there.

This is the type of kid Tennessee has to start landing. When he finishes this season he would have had 3 back-to-back 2000yd rushing seasons, great speed, even better vision, and potential to play many different positions. He is an in-state highly rated kid and inside the rivals 250 and 150 for football and basketball. There should be no debating whether he is a take because when you look at the facts he has proved himself to the moon and back.
I never understand why the VOLS let top recruits go out-of-state year after year.

Saw him last week on ESPN during the Ensworth/Brentwood game, are we recruiting him? Seems to be a pretty shifty back.

(sorry if this is double threaded, I'm usually in the College Football Forum)

He Won't even consider U.T. with our "soap opera" stuff going on. If he attends Ensworth, maybe Tiny can put in a good word for us, but I doudt that will sway him...

He would fit on any team. may not be an every down back for a team that likes to pound the ball, but spread offense, multiple looks,....he would be an asset.

He has never been high on UT.

I have seen him play many times in person, and he is VERY good...not one of those guys that racks up yards against crappy teams.

He's an elite athlete. He could be an outstanding cornerback in the SEC. He could also be a special player on offense in the SEC. There is a reason he has a big-time offer list.

If Tennessee ever wants to make any kind of move up the ladder in this league you better start landing these types of guys in your backyard. And you especially cant lose a legacy like Todd Kelly Jr to Alabama, which is likely to happen in the very near future

He would not fit on any SEC team that doesn't run the spread. He doesn't have the top end speed (Jalen Ramsey caught him in open field in the Brentwood game) or hips to be a SEC corner. His best bet on defense is safety, but size will be an issue and they dont think he is physical enough to play safety. He won't be a runningback and his best bet in college is at receiver, but UT feels they have better prospects at receiver.

His biggest offers are Tennessee, Nebraska, and Ohio State. Nebraska and Ohio State both run the spread. Vandy, Ole Miss, UCLA all run a spread offense. Coincidence?

This isn't my opinion, this is from people who actually coach Elder. They may be wrong and he may turn out to be the next Revis but they have a lot more to go by than any of us on this board.

You act as if Ramsey can't run. Elder would be a fun slot man. He's better than Young(who shouldn't be on the roster) and he's better than Watson(who really has a nice burst like him a lot) coming out. Tavon Austin clone IMO. Very quick ballplayer who will make big plays. He's nasty in open field.

Why shouldn't young be on the roster?

Has no value IMO. We can find anyone to return punts. A good coach can. He has no value on offense. I've watched him against Bama and Florida. The LBs for both teams were tackling him like he was air. He's not a RB nor a slot guy, where is all this open field stuff he's supposed to be doing at practice.

I do like the burst on Watson. He's got elite speed for real.

Find anyone to return punts?? Evidently you do not recall the punt return game prior to DY. atrocious I tell ya.

Funny how Denarious Moore went right to Oakland and fielded punts. Dooley is dumb and should've made him go back there to help the team. There were numerous kids on the roster that fielded punts in HS. To bring in a guy just for that was one of the dumbest moves I've ever seen. No other team just does this. Bama puts WRs and CBs back there. Just like LSU, Georgia, USC, SCAR and Florida. But we have to go get a guy that's not really impacting the game in any aspect for us. Ridiculous offer seeing the guys we were in on.

Umm Moore didnt want to field punts at UT, he knew doing it at Oakland helped him make the team.....try again

Young with 31 carries for 131 yards. 4.4 ypc...better than Watsons 2.8.....

Ill just go back and read the first few pages of the Vonn Bell thread which tells me all about your opinion of things....

Yeah read where I said I won't lie your boy is an athlete what camps is he going to......Oh okay guy. And doesn't look like Trae Elston is too bad of a player for Ole Miss. He didn't look bad in the UA All-American game either. Nice try though......(And yes Elston could start for us)

It's a much different situation now than it was then. In the season prior to Devrin being signed, we literally couldn't find anybody who could catch a freaking kick. We must have tried about ten players back there and they were all muffing kicks.

Now that we have guys like CP and Pig who probably aren't going to screw those up very often, it seems different. But at the time, we were desperate for somebody who could get it done for us in the return game.

Read my post a bit more. DMoore could've returned punts for us. Dooley let a player dictate to him. BS last year we could've used DY's schollie on an actual RB so we wouldn't have had Lane and no one else backing him up. DY has nothing elite about him for a small player(problem). Q.Watson has elite speed and burst. And it's not hard to see. D.Young looks overmatched on the field everytime I see him. Reminds me of a try-hard. I won't fault him because he plays hard for us but UT should never ever offer a guy to just return punts. That's just stupid as hell.
