'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

So does he even want to play college football? His recruitment just confuses me. Not just us but all schools seem hesitant

He is an incredible athlete. One of the best overall athletes to come out of this state in a while. We could definitely use him in football, but probably not so much in basketball. Unfortunately, he is insistent on playing both, so he probably will end up somewhere else.

Jmho

Confusion not really warranted. Corn is an old-school two sport athlete who would rather be playing than "camping". While all the other top recruits were at football camps showing their stuff this summer, Corn was playing AAU basketball. He will have as many offers as he wants in football. imo, not much chance he will be a Vol though.

Kid is dynamic with the ball in space. I say let him come off the bench in basketball to be an energy guy just so we can land him on the football field. Just to dynamic of a player to miss on. Can play rb and slot.

Hate to say this, because I am sure I will get blasted, but he would be dynamite in offenses such as Oregon, Ohio State, and West Virginia.

Offer list still is very mid major like. He could be a big time football player, or an average basketball player. JMO. Being ranked in the 140s in basketball is different than football.

True points. Someone needs to get the AAU coaches out of his ear and sit him down and show him game film....of himself!!! Seen him play both in person. Blown away by him on the football field but didn't leave the gym thinking I had seen the second coming.

Didn't Marquette already offer him? That is a pretty major offer right there.

Kid is an elite football talent for sure. Very underated on a national level. I know he's a 4-star but he's a National Top 50/100 type talent. Dynamic with the ball in his hands, plus I think he could also project extremely well at cornerback.

I don't understand Elder's mindset. Anyone with half a brain can figure out that he has basically no chance of playing basketball professionally. If he was to concentrate on football, with his speed, he would almost be guaranteed of getting a shot in the NFL, void of him getting seriously injured or just bombing in college.

No high school kid is "almost guaranteed" a shot in the NFL.
