'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

Corn Elder is an amazing athlete and a play maker! We should get Cuonzo to talk to him about a walk on offer so we can get his abilities for FBall and BBall.. A leader for his team in back-to-back state championships in both sports in the top sports division in the state

Buck Fitzgerald said UT and Corn Elder aren't a good fit.

Well if Buck said that, definitely time to scratch him off UT's list..He's a superior judge of talent and an integral part of CDD and his recruiting process..Wonder what John Henderson thinks??? If he says the same thing, time to forget about cornelius heading to UT...

Well, this was more of a case of Buck Fitzgerald stating the obvious. Even though I will say when it comes to Tennessee high school football prospects, Buck has a good track record of being write. We've visited a lot of players in the state of Tennessee recently and Corn is not one of them. It is obvious from the talk in the Tyshon Dye thread that Graham wants a big strong running back and at 170 lbs Elder does not fit that description. Granted he could be a very good slot receiver, but who knows how receptive he would be to that. Also, by us and Corn not being a good fit I think Fitzgerald mean both ways. As in Corn is not high on our boards and he is not high on us (we have known from the start that a Miami offer could very well end his recruitment). This doesn't mean he is not going to be a very good player in college, because he is going to be just not for us.

The coaches think the same thing. UT isn't recruiting Elder that hard. Buck knows a lot about the players in Tennessee and has a lot of connections. If i'm not mistaken, he is also Corn Elder's football coach. Its not just Fitzgerald that said, Carlos Younger said the same thing. Elder is not coming to UT, its a bad fit for both sides. He is a good player, but he would not do that well in UT's system. You can't just recruit guys because they are highly ranked.

Exactly. He needs to play in a running-spread type of offense.

That's why I would like to see him play for West Virginia or Ohio State. He would do well in either one of those systems.

I agree, but also think that he could be a very good slot receiver as well in our offense. He might not be interested in that though.

I think I read somewhere that some teams are recruiting him more as an ATH than at RB.... Could be mistaken though

We may be in a spread under our new HC in the next 2-3 years anyway so someone tell Graham to get on him anyway.

Ole Miss is Corn's Leader

It's starting to sound like a lot of the TN recruits are looking to go to Ole Miss... hope we can keep the ones we have committed and add JRM, Bell, and Gray...and Ramsey if he would like to flip.

Ramsey isn't going to happen IMO

Oh I know, but I just threw him in there as one of the TN guys that I would like to see added to our class. If we could pull Mackensie Alexander, then the sting of Ramsey would be taken away a little bit.

If we got Mack I would forget Jalen Ramsey exsists. Dream though.

Saw this kid in person for the first time last night against Gallatin. He needs to add some weight for sure, but WOW.... He had probably the most impressive punt return for a td I've seen in high school football. Also had a td run for 67 yards. Assuming he stays healthy, Elder is going to have a monster year.
