It said in the article that he plans to pick which sport he wants to play in july or august after the aau bball season, I wonder if that's why his recruitment has been kind of quiet even though he already has a ton of offers and some solid ones in football not so much in bball.

with aau, basketball players are usually known by the time they are fresh. And soph. In high school.

My guess is that some SEC school will get him in to play football and find a spot on the bench for him for bball and maybe let him be a roll player. JMO

MANY folks, including HC Ricky Bowers, say he will be a very good guard..Size isn't always a factor at guard..Sure lots of under 6 foot guards end up YMCA legends..That's the average height you find there...lmao..But if you read the article or speak to folks who are close to him, his leadership qualities are SUPERB..and he's had great success against much taller opponents..He blocked 3 shots in 1 game against a 6'7 guard he WANTED to defend...Not sayin' he's the next Spud Webb, but great guards are hard to find, no matter their height..And the better ones LEAD their teams..And being a 2-time MVP in the State Championship (both times they won it all) kinda speaks volumes about his heart and leadership..And I've covered him since he was an eighth grader..He can choose which sport and will succeed in whichever he chooses...

Cornelius Elder torn between two sports - ESPN
Wade said schools that run a traditional power offense, like LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina and Vanderbilt, are recruiting Elder for defense. Schools who spread it out a little more, like Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Ohio State and Oregon, are recruiting Elder to play offense.
Elder said he thought about taking a couple of football-related visits this summer, but will focus on AAU basketball instead. Elder has never been to a football combine and never even been timed in the 40-yard dash.
Thats a lie.

All im saying is the offer lists speak for themself. And I will have to disagree about it being hard to find a good guard. In COLLEGE hoops a skilled big man is way harder to find than a good guard.

Didn't say anything about the availability of good guards..My post focused on Elder..And from what I've seen (I'm certainly not a pro or college scout), if he chose to focus solely on basketball, he will be Division I material..And despite what some may think, good guards are not THAT easy to find..Especially one with championship-caliber leadership....

I haven't seen anything that points either way.

I havent either. There doesnt seem to be much info at all out there about him. I figured since it seems so quiet in regards to him and Tennessee that maybe they weren't much of a factor. Maybe all the schools are in the dark at this point.

Is it safe to say Tennessee really isn't a factor with this kid?[/QUOTE

From Sources I've heard close to his family, he plans to decide which sport AND which school after his AAU season concludes..Probably not etched in stone either way concerning the sport because he thinks he could possibly play both sports at a school that would allow him to do so..Any speculation at this point is just that, specualtion...JMHO

BTW, MTSU has offered in BB according to a writer friend of mine at the Tennessean...

I personally want to see Elder play for West Virginia. He would be fun to watch in that system. Or maybe even Coach Urb up at O$U. He would do really well in those two systems.
