'13 TN RB Cornelius Elder

A lot of people say defense for Corn, but I'd like to see the kid with the ball in his hands.

He's a difference maker no matter where he ends up. Right now I kind of like him as a change of pace tailback or in the slot but I could definitely see him play Corner or Safety. He's just an elite athlete that you try and land and then figure out where to put him when he gets to campus.

Corn is a great player. I see him more as a shutdown, big $$$$$ cornerback. But he is very special running the ball as well. Needs to grow a little. Tremendous hand-eye coordination. I really like him. Hope Tiny can talk him into joining us

His future is better as a football prospect according to someone who knows both.

Just don't see him playing at UT if his future is as a corner. He's shorter than we like. If they like him on offense, that's a different story.

I don't care how well he knows Batey, he will not be going to Vandy after he sees how they do this season.

Don't know why we would pass on a playmaker like this though. Doesn't matter his size at cornerback he'll make plays. Tyrann Matthieu is 5'9 too.

Agree, we need Elder. He is too much of an athlete to not take. There will be a position somewhere that he can play. I think corner or some type of specialty player on offense. Plus we need to get the pipeline from Ensworth to Tennessee going. There will be a lot of elite athletes going thru this high school. Wouldn't mind Jalen Ramsey coming with him.

Well even though he graduated from pearl cohn maybe Antonio Richardson will help us get a pipeline with Ensworth.

Don't think that Ensworth's HC likes UT, if it's the same guy that was there when James Stone was being recruited to UT by Chaney.

They also stopped by Ensworth High School to check in on Corn Elder, who already holds a Tennessee offer.

"It's just a great environment. Everybody is always into the games, they have a good fan base," Elder said of the Vols.

Elder already has offers from Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas State along with the Vols. Ohio State was also by Ensworth Wednesday to check on Elder. He's been around Tennessee a few times while not only visiting for a football game but also being on campus for multiple basketball camps. He also knows about the Vols thanks to some family.

"I kind of know a lot about them because all my family is huge Tennessee fans and I have family that lives towards Knoxville, so I just grew up watching them a lot. So, I know a lot about Tennessee," Elder said.

Elder hopes to be in Knoxville next weekend and said he probably will, Jan. 27 or Jan. 28, to check out the football program more in depth along with other juniors. He also said going to Ole Miss is a possibility in the next few weeks.

On a side note, Recruiting is one reason folks need to think twice about canning Dooley so quickly, and not because he's good at it. Those who have followed recruiting see the difference in momentum from year 1 (or 0) to now. Early on it was "Why have we not offered this guy", then we saw a late push. We saw some more of that this year, but there was more acceleration in the process with good quality over a larger area.

Now, we seem to be in on the '13 class real early compared to the last two classes, and with two HIGH quality commitments. Tennessee has such a unique dynamic compared to other high level programs in terms of recruiting, that I'm afraid that momentum would be lost with another coaching change and we could be potentially waiting a couple more years to build those relationships back.

Has the talent to play basketball at the D-1 level despite his small stature. On another level as an athlete.

He is a 4* in football (on 247 #84 in the nation) while only a 2* for PG on Espn. His future is in football

Noone said it wasn't. The point was that he is such a great athlete that even as small as he is he could play D-1 basketball if he wanted to.
