'13 TN OT Christian Morris

I'm sorry, but what happened? I can't find were all this began. So he quoted wat was on VN? What did Hubbs and Jmoore say? Im sorry but I can't find the beggining

Claims that Morris was begging for an offer. He denied it. He got upset. Most think the staff passed on him.

That's about it.

We know this kid reads VN. This is the second time he has quoted something said here.

How is sitting here and posting assumptions that he is poor, fatherless, a quitter, fat, lazy or anything else that has been said over the last 5 pages any different from tweeting those things to him when we KNOW he is reading this or somebody is reading it and telling him?

What I'm saying transcends one specific recruit. Make excuses about how it maybe didn't affect this one guy all you want, but at this point I think it's pretty ignorant to assume that things that are said here can have absolutely no effect on recruiting.

Absolutely correct!
When we talk trash they hear it and they feel the water is warmer elsewhere.
It's simple you don't tell your dream girl she ugly when you want to swoon her

The beginning has ended. Morris is a head case and a twittering twit that will not be part of this signing class. It's over and has been for a while. Move on.

NOBODY really knows who the posters on blind websites support...school affiliation-wise.

Exactly, if he's not smart enough to realize a UCLA fan can log on here and trash talk him posing as a UT fan and bases his decision on what an anonymous stranger says about him on the Internet, my gosh, he needs better decision making skills.

Same goes for any recruit who bases even 1% of his decision on anonymous message board posters' opinions.

Truer words were never spoken. There are a lot of posters who get their jollies bashing and vilifying prospects and current players. You know who you are. They will howl to high heaven that any suggestion that their garbage doesn't affect these kids. But it does have a negative impact on the targets, on recruiting and game performance. At the very least it doesn't affect a prospect or player in a positive way. It isn't just from rival trolls, but from regulars who claim to be Vol fans who post on this board.

Within a day or two after Jones was hired, he went after Morris. Morris was considering UT no doubt. Then the guy sends out a tweet saying Ford should have stuck with Vandy. Why? Because Ford at least at that time had decommited in favor oif Auburn NOT UT. So many idiots here jumped to the wrong conclusion and the recruit bashers were unleashed. Somewhere along the way Morris turned his cell phone off and the media (Hubbs) join in. In short, the VN as defined by this site did everything it could to alienate a high school kid trying to make an important decision in his life.

I for one would STILL BE delighted to see this young man in orange.

I had no idea message boards had that kind of power. Amazing - it's like a genie in a bottle type thing apparently.

I cannot imagine what it would have been like for me as a senior in high school to have thousands of people hanging on my every word, about anything. But I can tell you this, it would not have gone well.

So Morris is angry because an anonymous message board poster made a claim that Morris says is untrue. Morris disregards the fact that the overwhelming majority of recruitniks want him at UT, solely on the basis of one message board poster.

If it were me, I would be able to look past the random, anonymous musings of message board posters. It would be annoying to see people bash me (and I'd be a little pissed to see people question my work ethic). However, if you read message boards or engage with people on social media, you're bound to run across people that don't like you, this is especially true of a high profile Div. I recruit.

If one allegedly inaccurate comment makes a person this upset, then I recommend deactivating all social media and ceasing to read message boards during your playing career because it only gets worse.

I don't understand why people feel the need to bash recruits in a public forum.. It must make them feel really special.. There is absolutely nothing to gain from doing it and quite frankly the person doing the bashing comes across looking like a jackass.. It's not because the recruit may read it and negatively affect recruiting that makes it wrong. It's just wrong period..

IMO, bashing recruits in a personal manner is banworthy.. If mods were to start dropping the ban hammer for doing it, I think it might have a chance of putting a stop to the practice..

In this case we should be bashing the Ole Miss Rebels aka Sons of the Confederacy.

I am all for banning people for doing stuff like that.....To me.... that is what...NOT being a Vol is all about.

Oh yea, no doubt because the connection from what I said to the Sons of the Confederacy is SO obvious..

Seriously, if you're going to disagree at least do it logically, otherwise you look... well.... stupid..

I was skeptical of this at first. Mainly because it has never crossed my mind to be a rogue fan trying to torpedo another program out of a recruit. It seems like it would the someone with some serious mental problems to do something like that. Then the Bama fan this weekend posted a phoney report about Ford being in Auburn on an unofficial visit. It even got Bryan Matthews to report it as fact only to look foolish later in the day. So yes we probably have plants on our website.

I don't think jmoore meant anything bad by what he was saying, and believe Morris may have took out of context what jmoore was relaying to the masses. He was excited that a highly touted O-lineman who we need to round out our class really wanted to meet the new staff. Should jmoore/Hubbs whomever worded it better? Absolutely. And hopefully they will learn moving forward to do so.

As for the rest of it, people, myself included, need to remember how we acted when we were 17-18 years of age. Not much different and probably worse in some cases and cut these kids some slack. There was never a time to label him a 'quitter' or talk about his family.

But I will say, I was taught not to get bent out of shape on what people that know nothing about me said, and not take every little word to heart. This is a forum to discuss recruits. Characteristics have been and will continue to be discussed. If a kid represents himself a certain way, posters will respond. And this is not just on this website but on UCLA's websites, or even everyday life. Christian will find life a lot smoother if you have thicker skin. Getting upset and being consumed by every little word someone posts is a horrible way to go through life. Hopefully he will make a choice good for himself. And if it's with the Vols I would welcome him with open arms and cheer for him as soon as he dons an orange jersey.

I hope that Tennessee fans and recruits realize that those posters are not Tennessee fans and are fans of other schools who are afraid that Tennessee football will be back where it was in the 1990s. They will do anything to undermine our program.

It is a double edged sword for recruits. They want people to follow them ln twitter and have their day hinge upon what the recruit has to say. There are repercussions for tweets too. Whenever you seek attention, it all will not be positive attention or athe kind of attention that you want.

Good idea . . . the ban hammer would drive some of the obvious trolls out from this site.

Are you kidding? Ole Miss is still squabbling over their "South Shall Rise Again" chant. They will not win an SEC championship until they lose the Rebel thing altogether. Perhaps you are still too attached to false romantic ideals of a slaveholding aristocracy too. It is not "stupid" to speak the obvious. Stupid is as stupid doesn't get the obvious.

You're a moron.

Riots on campus over desgregation. Confederate battle flag flown proudly for more than a half century after that. Controversy continues there over symbolism that is more incendiary now than ever. If you want to wave your stars and bars become an Ole Miss fan.

FYI. My great grand dad fought in the 3rd Tennessee Volunteer UNION infantry regiment under Sherman kicking your grand daddy's a**.
