Austin likes going to the strip in Cleveland and i told him it was nothing like Brainerd rd back in the day. 45 min to an hour to get from Germantown rd to PJ's and Thriller.

Most Clevelanders don't know anything about Brainerd, 1 shooting and it was all over with.

Chattanooga ain't so bad. My high school won the Boys AND Girls State Basketball Championships my senior year. Most fun I have ever had as a student.

I remember the long driveway down to that white house and the small pond in front. There was no Paul Huff Pkwy. The Wal-mart was in the building where Pathway bookstore was (then it moved to the Tractor Supply Building)and Red Food Store (Bi-lo now) was where Ace Hardware is now. Wow! What a difference 30 years makes.

Yep, our little town has changed quite a bit in our life time. I always recall that old white house on the way to Industrial for baseball practice/games and how it just sat out in the middle of nothing, long before we had 30 traffic lights in a 30 yard radius in that area.

Austin is speaking today at Lake Forest Middle School about football and what it has done for him, playing at Bradley, how he feels about UT, and the importance of education. He thought it was one classroom and last night found out it was the whole school in the auditorium!

Mmm! Godfathers. Shakeys Pizza Also, its Hooters now. I remember walking to the movies out there. And I think it was Showcase

My Grandmother used to sing and play piano at Shakeys back in the day. I wasn't born at the time, but she often reminisced about it.

It seems like you have done a good job raising your boy.

I feel proud for you. Hope he achieves everything he wants to in the next 3-4 years and hope you enjoy every accomplishment along the way.

I also hope the time from now until he runs out through the T isn't too hard on you. I can't wait for football, can't imagine what it is like for you.

Congrats and wish both of you the best!

Well tell him it's a warm-up for playing in front of 100,000 UT fans in Neyland Stadium.

I hope his speaking engagement went well. Good practice for him, since he'll be famous one day and all, be in high demand. :)

I go back to the old Sportsman honky tonk on Lee Highway. They had dudes as car hops and would sell us teen agers beer for good tips. We would sit in the parking lot, drink beer and listen to rock n roll. It was too dangerous to chase girls in that joint. Could get your throat cut.

Wrong thread?

Idk yet...still finding out info. But I was told that UT could only offer so many O line scholarships. Maybe the person was confusing that with the fact that the school only wanted so many lineman...idk still checking!

Did you ever hear anything back on this? It's becoming even more curious with the latest news.
