'13 TN DE Jason Carr (UT signee)

So after this Ill drop it and let it get back to Mr. Carr but I found this tool online that was just too cool not to share - I was going off of what my Dad and Uncle always told me but there has actually been research done in TV markets and with Google searches to see which teams people root for and follow in different markets - i tried my best to get it over Memphis but it is easy to tell with a glance that TN certainly isnt the dominant team in this market

CommonCensus Hotspot Sports Map

you can take your circle and move to any spot on the map to see the distribution of fans - as you might expect go over near Knoxville and its virtually all UT

you can see the rest of the article here - interesting read - The Geography of College Football Fans (and Realignment Chaos) - NYTimes.com

Its not very accurate, mostly for the reason you stated, the fact that it doesnt take into account fans who like both. Which is by far the case here in memphis. Anyway, according to the link, it shows Memphis and UT as the top two not ole miss. Sometimes people like your uncle or people in my family who have come down here and only been in say south memphis get an inaccurate impression. Many people drive up from MS to memphis to work. I saw this myself when I worked in south memphis. Even then, out of about 400 people there were about 8 ole miss fans, all from MS. I work in Wolfchase area now, and out of about 400 people there is one ole miss fan. In no way are they anywhere near the majority. Out of the 400 here, Id say 95% either like UT and/or Memphis easy.

Anyway, we are talking about the kids and families who are from here and grew up here, and by far most like UT and/or Memphis. I have lived here, worked here, and went to school here my whole life and Im telling you a fact. Check the threads of the memphis recruits, almost all say they like UT football or their family does. Did it always help? No, just like everywhere else, its not a sure thing, but thats not the point. It did help some and gives us that advantage if we capitalize on it.

Not very accurate at all. I put it around AtL (200 mile radius) and it said that GA Tech was the main team by a bunch. I'm sure that's not right.

Bump.

New article up on Scout about his visit to the O&W game. First visit to Neyland stadium. Anyone care to summarize? Thank in advance.

"It was great," Carr said. "I got to see some of the 2012 signees and some of the recruits from my class. We just talked about getting Tennessee back to it's rightful spot on top of the SEC."

"It's very important," Carr said. "They are going to be your brothers during the four years. We are going to be Vols for life and have a bond together. It was a great experience. I'm pretty good friends with Camion Patrick and Jalen Reeves-Mayben. We keep in touch. We have a goal."

"I talked to Sal and JP (John Palermo)," Carr said. "We just touched base on graduation requirements. I'm going to graduate early so I can enroll in January. They were just telling me that I need to finish strong and just stay focused."
