'13 TN DE Frank Herron

It would fit Skeeter's "plays DL in high school but will play LB at UT" criteria.

Yeah KV, it sure would. I really hope he is our silent. We need this kid bad. All signs sure do point to LSU; however, here's one little thought and observation...does anyone find it interesting that he will announce the day before our lineman camp?? Remember Skeeter said that the silent would announce most likely within the next 2-3 weeks. Maybe the coaches asked him to wait to do it just before the lineman camp, in order to create momentum. I know he doesn't fit the "under the radar" comment from Skeeter, but seems too coincidental as to when he will announce.

Stand corrected, looks like LSU is content w/ where they stand w/ Prevot and Tim Williams. Accd to his HS coach, LSU has not pushed for a commit from him and now expect MSU to be his choice

If Herron ends up committing to MSU (which I'm not sure he will until I see it), one of two things:

1. He's sore about the decision to dismiss Clear from the team.

or...

2. Strange things are afoot down there in Mississippi, in particular, at one campus in Starkville.

Looks like he fell out of rivals top 250, also even if he does commit to MSU he'll be a Vol on NSD.

UT is in on several DE/Jack type guys this cycle...I wonder where he ranks on our board with the other guys we are after...Lawson etc

Or he just wants to play in a 4-3 and like Dill said, LSU is comfortable with what they have/where they are with others.

Or maybe like past Memphis kids he really just doesn't want to go to UT. I doubt Clear being dismissed is a huge factor. I'll be enraged if we lose a great in-state kid to the likes of MSU but it happens.

He's a definite take. Let's not pretend like he isn't good because we're not going to get him.

Definitely not what I meant to imply...I'm just asking if because he is in state is he necessarily ahead of other guys we have a shot at? It seems like such a deep position this year with guys like Lawson (GA), Hatcher (KY), Walker (FL) who is visiting, Bowers (NJ), Riles (GA), Neal (NC), Bellamy (GA), Poggi (MD), E Daniel (IN). Maybe the staff just doesn't like their chances with him and they are looking at other options.

He may not be #1 on the board at his position, but we're not in good enough shape with any of the others to not be pressing hard for Herron. JMO

I hope they get some combination of Herron, Hatcher, Lawson and Daniel. Even if MSU gets his commit now I still have some faith that a successful season can change his mind next winter.

Rivals must already know where he is committing b/c they dropped him out of the Top 250...it's a lock Volnation! He will be a Vol! :)
