Do not know much on him except visiting like everyone for a free ticket tommorow. Looks to be pretty solid.

This may sound odd, but having Stokes helps us recruit Memphis kids for football. Most, if not all, of the best Memphis football recruits grew up playing basketball. Most of those kids know each other. When the football recruits from Memphis come up for visits and run into/hang out with Stokes, it shows Memphis kids that UT is the place to be.

Don't forget Cam Clear. He played basketball for Central. And you're right, athletes in the Memphis area do know each other or are at least familiar with each other. IMO, when it comes to athletics in Memphis, everyone knows everyone (at least that's how it seems).

What kind of chance will Tennessee have with this kid? Some of you guys down there in Memphis surely have the early scoop on him...

TBH, I really think it depends on his family and the environment he grew up in. Based on my experiences and since there are so many colleges around Memphis, it really just depends on who an early favorite might be. Ole Miss has a really strong presence here. A lot of that has to do with the amount of graduates and fans of OM there are in Memphis. Oxford is only 45 minutes away.

OM generally a big hit with the private school kids. Like Wilkins.

UT has more graduates behind Memphis.

I hope people don't overestimate the significance of him having friends already at UT. It definitely helps, but it will end up getting blown out of proportion. Based on the past couple of years, it rarely forms the ultimate decision.

I disagree in this situation. Those 3 are very close.

It's why we landed Stokes.
