'13 TN Ath Jalen Reeves-Maybin (UT commit 8/10/12)

This kid plays like a 4 star, 247 made a good move, hopefully the other recruiting services will take notice. I'm very glad Dooley and company have been recruiting this kid. Hopefully we get him a couple weeks.

Just one more reason why 247 is making a major move in the football recruiting power play.

I think he is going to be a Vol and it seems like we have always lead. Growing up a Tennessee fan and the family atmosphere will be tough for Ole Miss or Vandy to beat. More importantly, I hope JRM can help keep Carr, that's been repeated a bunch on here, but we really need him in this class since we missed on Herron and who knows what's going on with Hatcher.

Very excited about this kid. He seems like he is very underrated, a lot like Brian Randolph and Jordan Williams, who everybody knew should have been 4 star recruits. If JRM continues to perform well in these summer camps, I think Rivals will move him up by the end of the summer

Just a coincidence that him and Ramsey changed their announcement date to the 16th?

Yes. I seriously doubt with all the love Ramsey has been showing USC that an early announcement would go in our favor. I think JRM will be ours though.

It does make me uneasy with them announcing at the same time. There's several different ways you could look at this:

1) I do believe JRM has said several times that he would like a USC offer. As a longshot, they both commit to USC on the 16th.

2) I believe Ramsey is visiting Vanderbilt again right before announcing. One of JRM's finalists is Vandy. They both commit to Vandy on the 16th.

3) UT's 2nd Summer camp kicks off the 16th. Ramsey and JRM blow open the floodgates to what could be one of the most successful UT camps in a long time by committing to UT on the 16th.

4) They really are just trying to put Tennessee in the spotlight by committing on the same day, but they commit to two separate schools.

I'm leaning towards #4, but who knows really.

#1 scares me the most to be honest. I'd thought of that when they decided to announce together.

Long shot is #3, but who knows, JRM might have done some recruiting for is.

Where have you seen that Ramsey is visiting Vandy before announcing?

I said that I "believe" that he is, but I've seen it posted on several message boards. It's definitely a possibility. I think the Vandy Rivals site posted that he would visit Vandy after the UT visit that fizzled out.

2 scares the hell out of me. That would be terrible PR.

Not worried here. The 16th will be a big day for these kids and I hope nothing but the best for them. Unless they choose an opponent and we play head to head...in that case I hope we eat their hearts.....
