'13 TN ATH Jalen Ramsey (Former USCw, now FSU commit)

Skeeter...

I have several questions on what you have said about Ramsey's recruitment.

1) You have flatly stated that a number of things like the fan base (an idea which is ludicrous, of course) were not the reason for Jalen opting for USC. It seems apparent that you know the reason or reasons he made that decision, but have refrained from stating them. Could you elaborate??

2) It is obvious that Jalen's dad and Buck are both viscerally antagonistic toward Dooley. Their dislike for Dooley seems personal and almost an obsession. Do you know what is behind all of this?? Why are dad and Buck so eager to get Dooley that they are willing to harm UT?? Or do they really now dislike UT as well as Dooley??

3) I would say it is almost a certainty that Kiffin paid that walking slob of trash ("deweiner") a finder's fee to help with Jalen. That is no reflection at all on Jalen, who had nothing to do with it and received nothing, I am sure, but why would any parent, much less a former Vol, allow any association at all between their son and a slime-ball like "Deweiner"?? That makes no sense to me. Do you have any insight there?? Is dad's hatred of Dooley so intense that he would endanger his son's reputation by association??

As always, I appreciate your input on VN, and hope that you can shed some light on this situation.

1) I think Tee's relationship with Buck helped seal the deal with Jalen. Jalen already liked the idea of playing for USC anyway.I think Kiffin hired Tee for a few prospects actually, Malone and the Berry twins along with TKjr, but i really dont see TK going anywhere other than Tennessee. Those are my opinions.

2) Buck is a Fulmer guy, so i guess its Dooleys fault Fulmer got lazy in coaching and recruiting. As far as Jalens dad, not sure he doesnt like Dooley, i just think hes not sure Dooley is a good coach. Only time will tell.

3) Well i dont know, rumor has it that kiff offered to help or did help out his "foundation" while here. If that is true then i guess anything is possible. Buck has done alot of good for Tennessee kids, its a shame he associates himself with that pos.

You should be able to do that at pretty much any elementary school. Don't worry, you will fit right in there.

Your response to TW's post was childish and ridiculous. He made good points and was both reasonable and accurate.

Well you're a no fun carpetbagger.

If your mission is to come here and clear kiffins name you are in over your head.

What is your problem, when someone provides information in response to the statement that football players left USC because of Kiffin. I am aware of a couple of players who left UT after Kiffin left, and only asked was it because of him or for other reasons.

You wont change the minds of half the kiffin haters. Clearly you're trying.

Agree 100%.

I wish Jalen Ramsey would pull a stunner on douchebag Kiffin and announce for Tennessee on the 16th. My birthday is the 17th, that's all I would ask for.

Look, Lane Kiffin is the single most hated person by current UT fans (and I include Spurrier, Saban, Brandon James, etc., on this list). Coming on this website to discuss Kiffin, especially with respect to his potentially poaching the best recruit in Tennessee this recruiting cycle, and being surprised by a less than friendly response is kind of like Cal, in Talladega Nights, being surpised that Ricky Bobby doesn't want to come to his wedding when he is marrying Ricky's ex-wife.

Lane Kiffin came to Knoxville and promised to be here for the long haul, along with his all-star coaching staff. He had a decent first season and was building an impressive recruiting class before he high-tailed it out of town leaving UT at the worst possible time for the program (in the midst of closing recruiting) and forced UT to scramble for a new coach to salvage the recruiting class. Beyond that, he then began poaching players that he recruited to UT, including Orgeron telling players that were on campus as early enrollees not to go to class. I could go on and on about how he did awful things and we defended him to other fans and any number of his other classless and/or traitorous actions. In short, for making me believe he was here for the long haul, the cowardice and the classlessness he exhibited in his departure (and while here), and setting my beloved UT back at least two years by his antics, violations of NCAA rules and regulations, recruitment of low character players, and departure at the worst time in the football recruiting year, I will never forgive him. I despise him and always will. I have always rooted against USC but now I will root against them even if they play Alabama, Florida, or Georgia. In sum, everything about USC and Kiffin offends me to the core.

I couldn't have said it better.

You really think Jalen Ramsey is the best CB in the country? Not disagreeing with you, just making sure I'm understanding you correctly.

But I agree, I don't think there would be a number problem anywhere when it comes to Ramsey.

Bump for Breakerboy.

Highly respectable Talladega Nights reference my good man.

Bump for Breakerboy.

I've said before I like to watch Mac. Alexander play the most. But if I really had to take one CB in this class for my college team it would be Ramsey. He's big, physical, rangy, competitive, and extremely athletic. I can't pass up a 6'1 194lb CB with a 40 inch vertical. Just can't do it.

Lol fort sanders isnt a bad neighborhood. Something like 15k students live there. They reason it has burglaries and what not is because people who dont live there know the college students have expensive things in their houses. I and many friends lived there several years with zero issues

I have had several friends mugged in the Fort and we(students) get emails all the time of robberies, gun shots, and muggings in the Fort. I have spent time at USC and the area around it is much worse, but I'm just saying the Fort isn't the best.

and a 4.40 flat on the lasers on a national stage (Sparq natty's)
and I agree that IMO he is the DB I want for us and a top 3 prospect at the position

He's better than anyone else in your top 3 CBs. That includes VHIII and Mack. Alexander(those are my top 3 CBs). His size and arm length paired with that vertical is nasty at CB and what separates him from the other two guys. A 4.4 anything on lasers is blazing.

Can't argue with that.

As always, I appreciate your help. I agree with your assessment of why kiffin hired Tee, and it is paying off for him thus far this year. I just hope that by our play on the field this year we make his job a lot more difficult and less rewarding next year.

Your reasoning on Buck and Dooley is what I thought initially, but after thinking about it, that makes no sense at all. Dooley obviously had zero to do with Fulmer's firing (self inflicted wound, imo) and he did not even follow Fulmer as coach. If Buck actually feels that way, he is irrational, and I don't think he is. There is something else there, I just don't know what it is.

As I said in my post, I can accept Jalen opting to go with USC, even though it means being coached by a man who showed little character in the way he left Tennessee. But Buck being willing to be associated with Devinner, a low life piece of trash who hates Tennessee and uses kids to make money for himself, is more puzzling to me than his dislike for Dooley.

But far more puzzling is why Jalen's parents, by all accounts good people who are neither impoverished nor uneducated, would be willing to allow their son to be associated with human slime like Devinner -- a true pos who has visceral hatred for all things Tennessee and is using his influence to sell kids to the highest bidder. I have zero doubts that kiffin made a nice "donation" to his "foundation".

A strange and sad situation, for sure, but thanks for your input.

Moose, what is your connection to Jalen? Do you go to school with him?

Live in the same area as him, Rashaan Gaulden, and a bunch of other BA and Davidson County players. Played against him a few times when he was a freshman and sophomore. Also play pick up games of football with him on the weekends occasionally and just hang out from time to time. Awesome kid. I went to Antioch High, so our football team would play his probably once a year if that. I graduated in 2010. I'm still very involved in high school sports and the whole recruiting process. My personal recruting experience was hell so I try and help out the guys who graduate a few years after me in any way I can.

:good!: Was there something specific that has completely turned him off to UT, and is why that he will not consider UT as an option even with 7 months left until NSD? We keep hearing that this is a done deal and he's a lock; however, as we have seen numerous times in the past, no one is a "lock" until the LOI is sent into that particular school.

Honestly, Jalen just doesn't want to go to UT. He wants to experience the west coast and everything it has to offer. He loves Tennessee and is very proud to be from here.....but honestly I think he just wants to get away. He's
always talked about literally "going away" to college, and the west coast has always been his target. Plus, Jalen is NFL bound, it's very obvious. He's an INCREDIBLE athlete and physical specimen. He feels like USC is going to prepare him properly and efficiently for the next level. Tee Martin also established a very good relationship with Jalen and his father, so this also played a part in it. This one hurts, because Jalen is an elite talent with an elite character.
