I agree, if you are from TN and you plan to spend your professional life in TN, then your home state schools and the education they offer should be the highest priority on your list of schools to attend.,
I don't know the Ramsey family nor Jalen Ramsey's educational goals and priorities so I will not comment on either UT or Vandy. but here are a couple of facts about USC:
I will say that USC does have some positives that are overlooked.
1. USC describes their students and alumni: Trojan Family and a quote is "you are a Bruin for four years and a Trojan for life" which is regarding the alumni support USC grads (not just FB players) receive from alumni worldwide. This is a fact, when one searches the USC alumni clubs worldwide that provide support to USC grads in their professional life.
2. Assoc HC Baxter is recognized in the football college world for the academic plans he puts together for each USC football recruit and player. This is a great selling point to parents. He has been given awards for his program, plus they meet with the USC Prez and AD Haden (a former Rhodes scholar) to reinforce academics.
3. USC is a private university now ranked 23rd,academically, in the country. (USNews/World Report). The private university aspect is extremely attractive to parents, whose kids are attending private HSs for their academic discipline. If one checks their 2013 verbal commit list, it is populated with recruits coming from private and parochial schools. Ditto 2012.
BTW, Harris went out to USC with his mother for a two day unofficial, and ended up staying a week. Don't know if that is relevant.
Although Hatcher has said favorable things about USC, USC does not have an animal medicine or veterinary school; his and his mother's stated career goal for him. TN has one of the best, which should be a key factor
