'13 SC RB Jabo Lee (UT signee)

If Neal can actually use his strength to his advantage, he'll have a good year.

He's not been consistent with that, though.

This.

This is exactly like when Hardesty was a senior, and Brown and Oku were coming in as freshmen...

"Yep. Brown will probably get 60% of the carries, 30% for Oku, and then Hardesty will come in every now and then for a carry."

Neal is strong and fast with an incredible line. This is his year.

Neal's weight room strong and very fast, No doubt.

He has no idea how to run with that strength and leverage on the field. he is not an instinctual ball carrier.

one touch to his legs and he falls. his lack of balance is astonishing. At least twice a game, He was been one trip up tackle from Long gains

he shows below average vision and a lack of understanding of defensive run fits vs different defenses

a Good RB has to make the 1st guy miss, something Rajion rarely ever does.

the crazy thing is all of Neal's strengths are Lane's weaknesses and all of Lane's Strengths are Neal's weaknesses. If Lane had any of Neal's Burst he'd be an All conference RB.
If Neal had Lane's instincts, shake, feet and understanding of pressing LOS to create holes and cutting back into the holes, He's be an All conference RB.

I Know TL:DR

I'm not expecting an outstanding run game this year (although one of them having an all career season wouldn't surprise me), but having Lane and Neal now should at least make it so that it's never a hinderance to our offense.

Butch runs 60% of the time and unless Dobbs takes the starting QB position, it won't be any of our QBs carrying the load. So...we darn well better have an outstanding running game.

I'll try to be positive. At least Neal improved since CJG got here. You're very right. Neal's balance is pretty bad. His lower body strength confuses me. He still has some skinny legs. At any rate, at least he started to hit the hole with some power and attempt to push the pile last season (no homo).

I'm a fan of Neal's potential. He didn't produce the way I wanted him too. Lane is definitely a hard runner. I hope both of them can just be a dominate duo like Alabama's system the past few years. No matter who you put in, 6 ypc.

Lee on the other hand, I think he will have to pack on a little bit of mass. But if he has the hands, he could be a good little pass option for screens, etc.

If Neal is cured if that propensity to bounce outside on inside runs he has the jets to make some epic runs in this offense..he'll have every opportunity to showcase his wares for the next level...so lots of motivation this season

I will not be surprised if we lead the SEC in rushing this upcoming season. We will be playing with a run first mindset behind the best offensive line in the SEC, if not the nation. Our RBs will look like studs running behind them. All high school backs will give us look this year because of our success on the ground.

Dont remember people having those thoughts. If they did it was because of Hardesty's injury prone problems his whole college career outside of his SR yr. Which sucked because Hardesty was a great RB and would loved to have seen what he could have done with 3-4 injury free yrs. He was a beast. I think this is Lanes yr honestly. He showed the last half of the season what he could do when he trusts his knee. Honestly doesnt matter to me who starts, just am ready to see a more physical and balanced run game.

Sorry bro I didnt see where this was a conversation between you and I. Guess I was unclear about who it was meant for, or your one of those nosey *****es that likes to dip into other peoples conversations that really had nothing to do with you. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Neal had some pretty impressive runs inside the red zone last year. Have always liked him. Hope he has a giant senior year.

Dobbs is a pocket passer

No. Dobbs is PRIMARILY a pocket passer. He ran for 12 TDs and "he was named Offensive MVP for the East in the Georgia Rising Senior Bowl after passing for 237 yards, rushing for another 56 and accounting for three touchdowns in the game". If you look through Butch's Cincy numbers, you'll see that he has non-running QBs carry the ball way more than you'd expect. When Dobbs takes over (whichever year that is), he'll carry at least 100 times and maybe much more than that.

Don't forget it's easier to run the ball when you throw it all over the field like we did last year. If teams are able to stack the line on us it may be tough to run since our backs may not good enough to make things happen on their own. Personally I think the passing game will be ok and CMB will have enough wrinkles in the offense to keep teams off balance but it's not automatic that we will run the ball better next year just because we have a good line.
