'13 SC RB Jabo Lee (UT signee)

After watching the highlights I've deduced that:

(1) Jabo has some serious jets
(2) He scores a lot of touchdowns
(3) He runs hard and has the ability to break tackles
(4) South Carolina has some terrible punters

I hope not too. But I'm not worried about it, since I've seen nothing to give me a feeling one way or the other about his personality. Have you? If not, it may just be gas.[/QUOTE]

I just watch other film on other players on the team and it just seemed when he didnt get the ball he would give up on the play kinda. I dont like just watching the highlight reel it doesnt tell you a lot.

Boooom!! Finally a RB thank god! What a nice surprise it was to see one of the thread names have a "UT Commit 2/4/13" attached to it!! Hard to believe hes our 5th most coveted commit. I didnt think he was ahead of Austin Sanders, but I guess so! Well, makes me wonder about Ford now. I hope to god we still land him, but if we dont, the blow wont be as crushing having Lee in our back pocket! Nice pickup gentlemen!!

The same could be said for a lot of 3* RB's we've signed in the past 5 years or so. They ALL look like that on their game film in high school. SEC is a different deal. Not many of these smallish "on the fence" backs seem to pan out. Not hatin' but this just looks like Q Watson part II. Hope he proves me wrong. Not hammerin' your post, just using your first three talking points that sum up the overall feeling about this kid on this thread.

After all the RB's we've whiffed on lately, I can't believe y'all are not happy with this pick up! We could have missed on getting a RB all together in this class, but we know for sure that Lee will be apart of this class! If he gets his priorities in order as far as his grades are concerned, then he can be a special player Butch's offense and a complete steal in this class! I've felt good about Ford ever since his visit to Tennessee. Also remember that he stayed in contact with our coaches during his visit with Auburn. If he's as high on Auburn as most experts think than I believe he would have already committed to Auburn by now. Lee and Ford are completely different backs, they don't effect each other. If we miss on Ford, I could see us possibly taking Turner and Lee. Even with Turner being put on the back burner, I believe he would sign with us if given the chance. But I'm hoping for the best with Ford and he becomes a Vol on NSD.

The most encouraging thing to me about the highlights is that the kid, despite being fast, seems smart enough to run behind his blockers until it's time to turn on the speed. His WRs also seem to put a lot of effort into blocking down-field. To me, this suggests that his high school team was well coached and was instilled with a good work ethic. That's all positive.

Also, I noticed that the average HS defense in SC looks like garbage. So, you know, I'm sure the kid will need an adjustment period. But he's fast and he must take coaching well, so once again, that seems positive.

It's a reasonable concern, and the grade issue/injury could pose a problem as well.

I suppose with the way our RB recruitment has went lately, I'm just looking for positives. That being said, highlight tapes are just that, highlights. However, I would hope that the coaches have watched full game films to figure out if they wanted this cat or not.

As with all recruits, we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. (Yes, this statement essentially means nothing, but it is all we really have until they put on the pads in practice.)

We got a RB, if he qualifies so I am happy about that. Will he play a ton? Who knows. We will have to see how he develops. I wanted to see us get at least (1) 6'-6'2 220-230lb RB so we had a guy to get the tough yards. Maybe Hill can be that guy. Last pic I saw of him looked like he had trimmed down quite a bit. Just wish we could get away from having a LB playing QB/RB.

I hate this overused nickname but with Alden Hill we have a little thunder and lightening. I couldn't think of a better description.

I just want to make sure Alden and Jabo can see the field first before I give them a cool nickname

Jabo's junior highlight are impressive to watch. He would be a much higher rated prospect if his grades were a little better and he hadn't suffered a injury his senior year. 4 star easily IMO. :good!:

This - good post. He was high on the radar with major programs until those issues arose. If resolved he will make a lot of programs sorry they passed on him.

Two good pieces on Lee...

8/18/11: “He definitely can be the best running back we’ve had since I have been here,” said Dillon coach Jackie Hayes, who is in his 20th season as coach. “We had Stan Manning and a couple other guys come through. But as far as being a dynamic football player, kick and punt returner, he is real special, and a lot of people don’t realize how good he catches the ball out of the backfield.”

More people might be able to see Lee’s pass-catching ability this season with Dillon switching to the no-huddle, spread offense. Lee, whose real name is Bashir and was given the nickname Jabo by his aunt...

5/8/12: "He makes things happen all the time, even when he does something wrong. I've seen him drop a kickoff and have it go behind him. He picks it up and is all of a sudden surrounded by a pack of defenders. But somehow he comes out of the pack and there he goes. Once he breaks containment, it's over. He's got that kind of speed.''

Lee has become well known throughout South Carolina because of his exploits on the football field and his friendly personality off of it. "He's a leader,'' Brown said. "The kids in school look up to him.

Thanks for posting. I'll say, watching his videos I briefly thought of a miniature CP. He's not at that level, to be clear. But he seems to have some moves in the open field, and he's got breakaway speed. Curious to see how he performs.

This! A lot of teams backed off due to grades. This guy is a steal for us.
