'13 OH WR Corey Smith

Hes been trying to get in for 3 weeks now but there were some questions about his transcripts.

Zach
Azzanni and Butch Jones saw Corey Smith on Tuesday as did Ohio State
and Smith committed to the Buckeyes publicly. I wouldn't take
Tennessee's visit with him as anything bad regarding North. I think the
Vols are positioned better with him than alot of analyst think.

"Yes, I committed earlier today," said Smith. "Coaches from Tennessee and Ohio State came down (to the school). After speaking with the coaches from Ohio State, I just told them that I was committing. I told them 'I'm coming and I'm not taking any more visits and I'm going to Ohio State.'"

Smith, who had been offered by Ohio State back in October, made an official visit to Ohio State two weekends ago. At the time, the Ohio State coaching staff still needed to check things out in terms of Smith's transcript but once things checked out, Smith was given the green light to issue his pledge to the Buckeyes.

"It's close to home and they have a good coaching staff there," Smith explained. "They have great academics and I just felt like it was the best situation for me."

The Smith's relationship has went back a few years as Zach Smith spent some time recruiting Corey Smith when he was an assistant coach at Marshall.

"I had the best relationship with coach (Zach) Smith," he said. "He's just a good guy and I trust him."

Smith had weighed the possibility of making a final official visit to Tennessee this coming weekend but has scratched those plans and will not take any more trips.

Pay attention to the part about who he had the best relationship with...I mentioned this in Lawson's thread the other day. It always seems that one of the biggest driving factors for these recruits is relationships and trust. I say this because I think this really helps us w/ Lawson (I know this isn't his thread). In the end will the Lawsons truly trust their relationship w/ Garner?? We will see.

So did CUM push for a commitment and Corey accepted to hold a spot? I can't imagine CUM will take his commitment this late and then let him visit Knoxville this weekend. Is the OSU rivals board wrong?

Scout shows:

Breaking News: Corey Smith has decommitted from Mississippi State and has issued a verbal pledge to Ohio State. The player confirmed his intent with FoxSportsNext minutes ago. We will more on the announcement soon, including quotes from Smith.

247 says smith is an OSU commitment.

Hubbs must have some wicked connections.

Hubbs can only go by what Smith tells him.
