'13 OH QB Mitch Trubisky

I'd say high 3-star, maybe low 4-star type of guy. He has some skills for sure but could probably use a redshirt year to really focus on his mechanics so his accuracy can improve. I do like his athleticism and ability to make plays with his feet. He can make most of the throws too when he sets his feet. I'd say he's pretty raw at this point but has a solid upside. He does play against very good competition.

Really like the kid's mobility and the fact that we're going after more mobile quarterbacks. He stands tall in the pocket and has a more than adequate arm. However, he is very lazy with his lead arm. I feel that this could decrease his accuracy and arm strength but it's an easy fix. Has somewhat happy feet but what high school qb doesn't.

MH...we appear to be in agreement with our assessment. Do you know how long he has been playing the position? Does he play another sport?

"I talked to the coaches and they said they'd love to have me and that they'd be in meetings and they gave me a tour and I got to sit down and talk to them. It was good. I liked it a lot," he said.

"I liked the stadium and I liked the campus. They're building an expensive new add-on to the indoor facility and that looks awesome and all the coaches are great," Trubisky said. "I talked to a lot of coaches. I talked to coach (Jim) Chaney a long time and coach (Derek) Dooley and coach (Sal) Sunseri and I met the receivers coach and the defensive assistant who's helping recruit me."

"I'm definitely going to highly consider Tennessee. They're in the running and I was glad to get down there and see it," Trubisky said.

The buckeyes have limited scholarships so I don't think they wilk take two quarterbacks.

I know he plays basketball. He played at the Arby's Classic tourney in Bristol this year. Good overall athlete, good defender.

Yes we do seem to be in agreement on him. I'm not sure how long he's been playing QB to be honest. He is a good athlete though. He can do some damage with his feet if he needs to.

Hopefully he falls into our laps. I like his potential to be a threat with his arm and his legs. IMO we will get a QB that is equivalent to Trubisky/A. Allen/Buchanan. These guys can throw the ball well and are efficient in a passing offense.

wonder if OSU would take him with the recent commit

I think OSU would take him if thats where he wants to commit. It depends on if Mitch sees himself going in and making an immediate impact or is willing to wait a year or two before getting on the field. It does make you wonder though since OSU signed a QB already if that will sway the decision to possibly move away from OSU.

"Ohio State offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Tom Herman watched Trubisky throw on Friday. This week, Trubisky hopes to find out where he stands with several schools on his list including Ohio State and Michigan State. He plans to talk to the Buckeyes today and perhaps find out if his work out on Friday was good enough to make his Ohio State offer a “committable” one at this point.
Trubisky also plans to call Michigan State and find out where he stands since like the Buckeyes, the Spartans recently landed a quarterback commitment. As far as who else Trubisky could check in with this week, Alabama is certainly a possibility. Trubisky went to the Crimson Tide’s spring game and has an offer from Bama, though as things now stand that offer is not thought to be a “committable” offer just yet." - 247 04.30.12

Trubisky enjoyed his recent UOV to Tennessee. Some question whether OSU will take two QB's (2013), with J.T. Barrett's recent (04.18) commit Tennessee is in good position atp. IMO.

New article on 247, sounds like Trubisky is just waiting to see if Ohio St. will have room for him. If they don't he mentioned that he really liked Tennessee a lot, he likes coach Chaney & all the new facilities. Sounds like we may be 2nd behind Ohio St. right now.

We will get him

If hes not a LB in HS and can be converted to QB, Urban wont want him

Said he didn't do as well as he would have liked at the Elite 11. Staver showed out again and made the finals.

Don't tell people on here about Staver. Everyone keeps telling me on here that he has no skill for the next level and that UA, LSU, and AU(4 of the last 5 NC) are close to offering him means nothing.:)

Don't start with this jibberish. Bray, Worley, and Peterman are better QBs that any QB that UA or LSU has brought in over the past few years. Cam is an outliar.

Who knows if we'll get involved with Staver. But when it comes to evaluating QBs, I'll take our staff.

You are going to tell that Peterman and Worley are better that any QB that LSU or UA has brought in. Based on what. HS performances or star rankings. Bray has done well I will give you that, but you are really stretching it on the other two. Worley got some minutes in 3 games and UT did not fair that much better than having Simms in. Peterman has not yet played a college game. BTW you staff also evaluated Simms.

Look glad you have faith in your staff and QBs. And am glad UT has not pursued Staver. His stock is only increasing and hopefully by UA getting on him early will help down the road if he becomes an option for us.

Kiffin evaluated Simms. Not the current staff. I'm very confident Peterman and Worley will be/are better than any UA or LSU QB right now. I don't think that's a stretch at all. UA and LSU QBs aren't that good, plain and simple. Most don't want to play in those offenses.

Who are most. UA went after two big prospects last year. Gunner who once decommited tried to get UA interested again and apparantly UA at that point already realized not the type of QB to be at this level. The other was Winston and if not for the stupid MLB rule for the SEC would have ended up at UA. Those were the top 2 QBs in the country last year. So who else because it seems if they wanted to why wouldn't the others.

Already most of the top QBs in this class have visited UA and will return for camp in June with the hope of getting a scholly. The only concern any had last year was depth with 2 top QBs coming out of HS already on the roster and both with 3 years left. Now PS is gone and they have noticed even more opportunity.

And before BB breaks in, no matter the opinion AJ had a great year last year for a 1st year starter and I expect even a better one this year. He is the best so far under Saban and I have no concerns whatsoever about his ability.

I'm not disputing that top QBs look at UA. You could have had Gunner. His performances at the Elite 11 camp was bad, and even Trent Dilfer ragged on him. His stock went way down later on in the process, and programs realized he was a flake. At any rate, It's just my opinion. I don't think top QBs will ever really end up at UA simply because of the style of play. Sure, McCarron has done well. However, all he really has to do is manage the games. Does he really have to make the big plays to win the game? No.

I don't think QBs that get out of UA translate well into the NFL, too. It just comes down to the style they play at UA. JMO, JMO.
