It is a academic issue that dates back all the way to his 9th grade year when he was playing basketball at a private school. One of the main reasons he had to go to prep school this fall.
Also LSU has not taking his commitment and will not if he does not qualify which it does not look like he will . JM and UA parted ways last week and he was removed than from the commit lists for UA. It did not happen today.
From ESPN today:
The reason Alabama and McNeil parted ways comes from an academic issue that stems from his 9th grade year, according to McNeils high school coach, Antonio King.
Theres a question about when he went to a prep school his 9th grade year as a basketball player, King said. Its something we tried to get fixed from way back in his 9th grade year.
LSU coaching staff might not be able to take his commitment at this time either until the academic situation clears up.
From 247 last week:
We have talked with sources close to the situation and do NOT believe he will be a part of the Tide's 2013 signing class. For that reason, we are removing him from the commitment list. If the situation changes at a later date, we will let you know and make an adjustment. As of now, there's no longer reasons to consider him an Alabama commitment.
I doubt any school will go after him hard right now.
