So we've contacted this guy who few schools are after but are ignoring Bell who Bama, UGA, and other major schools are after? Makes sense...

I would guess we've made contact with a whole bunch of recruits. Doesn't really mean anything

Brian Walker, Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek, Cornerback, 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds.

Rivals.com rates Walker as a four-star recruit and the nation's No. 148 overall prospect.

NC State and North Carolina lead in the Walker sweepstakes, while Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee and Wake Forest are working to get into the mix.

Walker is unsure if he will make it to Wake's Junior Day.

Walker recorded 38 tackles, four fumble recoveries, three interceptions and 14 pass breakups to help lead Mallard Creek to the fourth round of the state playoffs and a 13-1 finish.

If anybody has a Rivals account can you see what schools this guy may plan on visiting? He's a top 200 recruit that goes to the same high school as Marquez (sic) North from Mallard Creek. He's committed to UNC but may visit other schools. Has a solid offer list, Jay Graham is his lead recruiter. This is exactly the type of recruit we need to steal from UNC.

Griddie who posts here but mostly on VQ is connected in NC HS's somehow, not sure if he's a coach or what but he posted this earlier today on Walker after talking with some coaches in the Charlotte area...

Brian Walker has been mentioned on here. Consensus by coaches in Charlotte - laughs when mentioned he's a 4 star. maybe 1 1/2 star is what several said. Not physical (or how they put it - doesn't like to mix it up at all), doesnt turn hips well. Only thing can do is run. Was told that he was resplaced in Butler game after being abused in opening half. didn't return til midway through 4th. said better off to let him go to UNC.

"The program has a lot of tradition and the scheme they run is good. They have a lot of (defensive backs) on the field at one time and there's a rotation and it's a big opportunity there to play," Walker said.

"I came there last year for a game against Georgia. It was pretty exciting. The fans were into game and there was a lot of intensity," Walker said. "Most likely I will try to visit."

Walker's teammate is wide receiver Marquez North and while the two have talked about playing together, there's no pressure.

"We've talked about it, definitely talked about it. It's a possibility but not a guarantee but we will see," Walker said.

Says his commitment to UNC is strong but still talks to UT, Pitt, Ole Miss and WVU.

For the life of me I just don't get what attracts these players to UNC. :dunno:

I think because it's instate and like Vandy they can sell a good education, plus the new coach has brought in some excitement and is trying his best to build an instate NC Dream Team of sorts. But just like Vandy, if they don't win a lot of games, the recruits will go elsewhere. Luckily for UNC coaches and fans their schedule is much easier than Vandy. JMO

Well thats makes sense. But you know UNC hasn't really done much for quiet a few years. I know they were getting better there for a while but they have never really been much of a football school. But you got to give to the coach there for working his tail off trying to get it back.

Thanks Ron always love the info you bring. :hi:

Would love to get another good cb in this class. Looks like the coaches are making it a priority.

Oh, I agree completely. I would never go to UNC if I were an elite FB prospect. UNC is a basketball school, always has been and always will be. Their fans can't even fill their tiny stadium, half full is rare. :hi:

These are the kinds of kids where officials REALLY help, I would think. Seeing our atmosphere vs. UNC would have to really make an impact.

I'm so tired of looking like Arky looked last year. If we only had an average defense right now, we'd be 4-1. Need some good CBs more than anything.
