13 MD WR Paul Harris (UT commit 7/17/12)

I'm getting sick of watching us miss out on or lose ground with every big name recruit we are in on. Hell, we can't even keep one of our commits from flirting with lowly Ole Miss.

And even if we do win, half these committed kids aren't just going to come flocking back to us.

It all hinges on whether they take his commitment.

USC is getting a real numbers crunch. USC has 14 or 15 available scholarships. USC may be able to sign a few more if players leave, which is likely to happen. I think they'll take in the 17 to 18 range, which would get them to the 75 scholarship limit. Below is who they currently have committed:

QB - Browne
RB - Isaac
RB - Davis
WR - Mitchell
WR - Larue
WR - Massington
DT - Bigelow
DE - Fitts
LB - Hutchings
DB - Cravens
DB - Hawkins

Below is the best I could come up with regarding some of USC's top remaining targets:

WR - Paul Harris
OT - Nicol Falah
DT - Montravius Adams
DE - Greg Gilmore
DE - Carl Lawson
DE - Eddie Vanderdoes
DE - Jason Hatcher
DB - Max Redfield
DB - Tahaan Goodman
DB - Jalen Ramsey
DB - Cole Luke
DB - Priest Willis

And his teams will end up like Dooley's first year at UT. He can keep recruiting all the skill players he wants. Unless he starts getting SEC quality OL and DL he will only be king of the PAC 12. And there is very little satisfaction in that.

He's taken 9 OL and 10 DL in his last 2 classes and has 2 of the best DE in the country committed this year. He'll be just fine.

Vanderdoes and Ramsey are USC locks. I think Priest Willis is really liking USC as well. Apparently Harris wants to commit as well. I think Goodman likes USC the most too, but I'm not sure if they would take him right now.

With 3 WRs already committed, it seems that USC would be done at the position for this year and use the scholarships elsewhere.

Check out the link below. USC can take 14 plus the number of underclassmen that leave (transfer, NFL draft, etc.). I think USC fans believe Woods will go pro (he's projected top-10 pick). Not sure where they are getting the other 3 from.

Yeah I'm not sure where they are getting that number either. I guess we'll see. Hopefully they'll only be able to max out at 15.

What about VH3? I thought they were high on him too.

Vanderdoes is far from a USC lock. And SC fans are also counting a scholly for Darreus Rogers who is increasingly likely to never set foot on campus.

They only have 5 DT's on their roster. All underclassmen. 2 SO, 3 FR. They're going to need to take a couple this year.

They've got Bigelow coming in and the fact they have 5 underclassmen DT proves my point even more; they're not losing anyone anytime soon so they can get by this year w/o filling up on DL. I think he knows what he's doing and that's evident in RS 14 guys out of the '11 class. He'll still have an experienced team in a few years.

USC can take three EE to count against 2012 plus 15 (poss 16 because one of the 2012 receivers may not get his academics squared away) for 2013 and still be under the 75 limit, without assuming any early departures to the NFL. Also explains why they may take four wide receivers in 2013

With the way Kiffin is "building his program", it looks like potential recruits aren't the only ones envisioning a three year plan. Load up on skill players in the early years so that your program has flash. Win big early (largely can be attributed to M.Barkley). Chunk the deuce before the effects of front loading classes or the lack of attention paid to rebuilding the trenches catches up to you.

One would be naive to think that Lane's short tenure in the NFL did not leave a sour taste in his mouth. As soon as the opportunity presents itself, he's out. His hubris will be his demise.

It's hilarious that one of his selling points is that our coaching staff will not be around when in fact he already has one foot and shoulder out the door.

My guess is Kiffin will be at USC for a while and continue to get great recruits and win big. He's a great coach but just an a##hole for what he did to us.
