So you are not a fan of taking good football player?

Probably an unfair and incorrect assumption on my part. I know Pswagg was from LA and Dmo was from TX, but it seems to me we've had issues keeping kids from those states eligible and on the Hill. It's a long way from home. Plus, the draw to their in state schools seems greater than some other southern states closer to UT with just as much talent.

We've had problems keeping Texas kids but over the years we have had several good players out of Louisiana.

I feel like a I see a lot of kids at LSU and throughout the SEC that have drug and grade problems. May be a squeaky wheel thing, but they seem high risk to me.

Just received his 4th star on Rivals. How does a kid go unrated without a profile all year long (at a school like Holy Cross) and then all of a sudden once LSU stumbles upon him and offers him, he jumps to a 4 star? Not a high 3 star. A 4 star! Give me a break. These recruiting services are about as sketchy as they come.

I have no idea why people worry about all this star business. The recruiting services do not see all the kids, the schools have better insight as to the kids in their state than the recruiting services. What you are seeing is the recruiting services follow, as there is no way for them to know them all.

He made the same jump as Mathieu did when LSU signed him. Not rated to 4 star.

It's the kids LSU does not offer in the state you should be suspect on.

Now if you really don't like the services, you are really going to hate ESPN. Not ranked in the top 1000, now today he is 297. :):):):):):):)

He had a good year, he has only played football 2 years. Needs a RS and it could work out.

Spears has the tools to be good, whether he was rated or not. He needs a redshirt I would say to add some size.

The services are followers, not leaders. If the kid had more muscle then I could see 4-star type guy, but he is going to have to hit the weights.

They really are bad. Sad part is they have the most access/resources/football scouts by far. They could murder any of the other recruiting services. They're just lazy ****s.

If I recall correctly, Mathieu did not get a 0 to 4 star rating two weeks prior to NSD. I am not saying the kid isn't a good football player. I actually compared him to Javon Walker. The point I am trying to make is that the bias from these recruiting services is very much apparent. If Tennessee offers a kid who doesn't have a profile, and we've offered a few as of late, he automatically becomes a 2-3 star. In this case, since it was LSU that offered, he jumps to a 4 star. Why not a 3 star? He didn't even have a Rival's profile until about a month ago. It's just very shady business in my opinion. Rank the kids on their ability, not by what school offers them. His other offers are garbage as well.

All you see and you hear is stars matter. They either do or they don't.

I go with don't. Look at the measureables, the video, the offer lists.

Everybody's got to make a living, but some of this stuff is just a con and a scam.

I would just like to know how this board would view recruits if stars did not exist. Player profiles make it fun, but I bet their would be alot less stress come NSD.

None of the services had even looked at his film, once you realize they are behind the ball, it's not that big of a surprise. As far as I know Spears was not a camp guy either.

Mathieu was non-rated, tore up camps left and right and was still non-rated, he was going to be lucky to get a Tulane offer. LSU offered on the spot at their camp based on his performance, within about 2 weeks he was not just a 4-star but high ranked 4-star.

Ignore the services, sign the guys you want. Simple as that, if you pick the right guys the services will then look at their film and other.
