I read somewhere that at one point Ellis wanted to commit to Tennessee but the staff wasn't ready to take his commitment ATP.

Hope that doesn't come back to bite us. I'm surprised we actually turned down a commitment for once.

"I'm telling you guys, the coaches backed off. He was shorter than they thought he would be and has a very small frame. I have very few sources ever, but this is the one time I know for a fact the coaches weren't impressed. DB recruiting is going fine and the coaches will definitely get theirs." - Poster on VQ.

I believe it, if this kid was as good as his ranking would suggest then he would hold a LSU offer. Anytime there is a bigtime recruit out of New Orleands and he doesnt hold a LSU offer it will always make me wonder.

LSU usually like the kids to come to camp especially if you are in state and on the bubble. He got PO because LSU didn't offer him out of the gate, won't come to camp so there you go.

Comparable to Mathieu in some ways IMHO but not coming to camp I am glad LSU is passing... he could make a good undersized player.

Measured in at 5'9" 174lbs at the Rivals 5-star challenge.

I can see why the staff passed.

I saw a quote from his dad saying that the devil would be ice skating in hell before he would let his son go to LSU.. Not sure why though...

Regardless, I also saw a few statements saying A&M and Tennessee are his top two. I know he is committed to A&M for now, but it is a long time till signing day with a lot of SEC football to play.

In the end I think location will be key though.

Feelings hurt because LSU hasn't made an offer and told him to come to camp so they could take a look at him.

I thought he committed to A&M but I have a feeling this story will go on and on.

The Tennessee staff passed on Ellis after seeing how small he was at our camp.
