UK Football talk radio is dominating basketball talk...in February. The fans are pumped, Stoops IS killing it.

All that being said, congrats to UK. A couple of very solid pickups late in the game. I don't blame Hatcher one bit for not wanting to play for an epic sinking ship at SC. Not to mention a massive scumbag.

Wouldn't you agree that it's also a product of the basketball team being down this year?

I really wouldn't mind UK getting respectable in football. Would be good for the league.

JMO, but don't get your hopes up. If Stoops becomes even remotely successful at UK, he's leaving for more pay or for a bigger football program.

I've thought about this a lot, and it may contribute some to it, but in prior "down" basketball years, football was never talked about much during the offseason.

I think that some of the excitement is the product of the UK BB team winning it all last year. It raised the level of expectation of the fans, who pretty much demanded Joker's ouster. It forced us to hire a guy who could bring in the recruits. Now whether or not they can win is an entirely different story. Only time will tell.

It's amazing how quickly we dropped out of Hatcher's consideration, just when it looked like a commitment from him was imminent. Anyhow, a USC commitment and de-commitment later, he ends up at Kentucky. Crazy world we live in.

Scott Van Pelt on ESPN Radio just announced that Hatcher will sign with Kentucky tomorrow.

if they do get hatcher which is very possible imo

and james hearns along with jojo kemp, z. smith, etc i gotta give stoops props he would have done ALOT in a short time at kentuck recruiting wise

After we won, on their senior day, we went to someplace called to Varsity Blues to drink beer. Apparently, it was the UK football teams post-loss hangout. Derrick Abney came up with about 3 linemen and told me I needed to take off my orange jacket in "their" bar. I proceeded to tell him I had on more than one layer of orange and congratulated him on keeping the game close. He knocked my beer out of my hand. I 2-hand pushed him over my buddy's chair, he fell on the floor, and I braced for the linemen to come to his aid. They looked at him, back at me, and laughed and walked off without helping him up.

A guy came over to my table a few minutes later and I figured we were getting kicked out. Instead, he said he was from Knoxville, played baseball at UK, and told me Go Vols and he was happy I knocked that punk on his ass.

A part of me wouldn't be bent out of shape if Hatcher went to UK just to stick it to Kiffin.

When a kid makes a classless and insulting statement about a school, they tend to open themselves up to some bashing regardless of it being right or wrong.

This. Bashing a school who's pursued you hard opens up legitimate backlash. If Bell picks UT and says nasty things about OSU in the interview, you can bet OSU fans would sling some mud his way.
