'13 KY DE Jason Hatcher (USCw Commit)

I seen on facebook via GVX that Jason Hatcher from Louisville is making a second visit to Tennessee. Any of y'all know about this kid?

I'll hang up and listen and go vols.

I would never count out CDD with a recruit if he gets some quality time with the parents. Especially smart parents.

Announced Top-5 of UT, Southern Cal, South Carolina, Louisville, and Ohio State. Will visit all schools this summer. Really enjoyed his visit last Sunday UT and he got to focus on UT's academics. Says he wants to major in Veterinary Medicine.

"It was good. This trip was more educational and informative," Hatcher said. "We got to see the vet school. We got to see a bunch of things about the different programs Tennessee has to offer student athletes like the Vol for Life program and the program where they pay for you to graduate (if you leave early for the NFL)."

"I met with Brian (Russell - Program administrator for the Thornton Center) and those things are very important to me in making my decision because Tennessee hasn't had its best seasons the last few seasons," Hatcher said. "With things like those, qualities like those, it really helps me to decide a school because a lot of schools don't offer programs like Vol for life and the graduation program and the mixing and matching majors that you want. So, that is very important and it was a very successful trip."
"It was really good. I'm really anxious to get back down and work with the coaches in camp and see how their stuff plays out," Hatcher said.

"Outside, rush linebacker. But, they have different packages and at some point I would be standing up and sometimes I'll be down when they go to a 4-3. I would work a lot with coach Sal at that JACK position, the hybrid to do both," Hatcher said.

"I feel like that will only help me in the long run with having a big arsenal and being able to more things," Hatcher added.

"(Tennessee's) one of my top five schools. I can't really say who's leading and what's, what now because I haven't had a chance to visit all of those schools,"Hatcher said. "I really think by the end of the summer I'll really know what schools are leading in what categories and so forth."

If UT takes care of business on the field.....

This is so true for so many guys. Hatcher reiterates this in his quote, saying that we haven't had any good seasons recently. I would almost be willing to guarantee that if we win at least 8 games this year (not counting the bowl game), then we land Hatcher. Sounds like he loves Sal and what Sal is wanting to do with him. We have a huge advantage on other schools with the academic side and the programs that we have in place. We also have a huge advantage, because we have his graduate program that he wants to pursue. The only school that competes with that is Ohio State. The other 3 schools in his top 5 do not have a vet school. I believe the state of KY has a contract with Auburn's vet school to allow so many spots for it's applicants. The vet school in Cali is at UC Davis, and I believe that SC has contracts with a couple of different vet schools for it's applicants (maybe Georgia and Miss State).
IMO, we are in very good position with Hatcher.

Are we recruiting Hatcher as a jack? This question may have been answered earlier in the thread but I didn't go back to read it. I just thought we might be after seeing in weight and all just curious.

Yep, we are recruiting him as a jack. Him and lawson are probably the best two jack linebackers we are in on.

Okay thanks it would be great to land both of them but atleast 1 would be needed. Do you think we are in better shape with hatchet then Lawson. I know it's just early I'm just wondering where we stand at the moment?

We are in very good shape with hatcher at this point. He has visited twice in the past few months, including once with his mom. He likes sal, realizes he is built for the 3-4, and has spoken highly of our vet program. I would not be surprised to see us lock this one up early if we can get some wins and secure Dooley's job.

Okay thanks a lot! I remember reading about him and the vet program I didn't realize it was Hatcher it's been awhile since I have read anything about him. I would love to have this guy. Thanks for the info!

It would be nice to get a foot in the door at Trinity. They produce top-notch talent on a regular basis. Might help with Quick this year, also.

Does Louisville traditionally land a lot of trinity players or is it ky? I imagine hatcher is at the very top of Charlie strong's board and he's working him relentlessly.
