'13 KY CB Ryan White

Can't really say this...if Vandy would've made 1 of the 2 field goals they missed, UT would've lost.

Anyway...will be fun to watch 5'8 Ryan White line up against 6'5 Jason Croom in a couple years.

Not to worry Franklin will move him ito NB and lockdown Croom with L3. :wink2:

Wow. I'm not going to argue with you but that's a completely ridiculous assumption.

Franklin had a good football team last year, better than the one he'll have this year, and couldn't beat a young Vols team that had already fallen apart.

Young or not. Tennessee still had far better talent.

Well, they return a lot of starters this year from what nash is saying and we do too. The only difference is that it's played in Nashville. You picking Vandy to win?

Nope. Tennessee has far better talent than Vandy just like they did last year. Vols should win comfortably.

Those field goals don't matter without the pick 6 and the other interception on UT's own 20. It gave them 14 points. They didn't drive more than 40 yards on any of their touchdowns. One was the 6 yard touchdown run, and the other was 7 plays for 35 yards.

I think this whole conversation is funny. The same people that were making excuses for CDD the past two years (due to a talent-deprived roster with no depth, NCAA/SEC sanctions, staff turnover, etc.) are now praising Franklin for one impressive season that was full of upper-classmen, no injury issues, small staff turnover, etc. If CDD goes 8-4 or better, I fully expect people to start praising CDD for doing only what was expected of him to begin with.

Franklin deserves some credit for doing what he did no matter what he had to work with. That same team was horrible the year before so he definitely did something right. Now everyone in the SEC knows more about how to game plan him and will be ready. He may not be a good X and O guy in the long run but he can definitely motivate and get the most out of his team.

If it was all about talent, than the number 1 recruiting class would win the NC the very next year with freshmen players.

No they wouldn't, considering there would be 4 other #1 recruiting classes also playing college football at the same time. Recruiting should be looked at over a 5 year process, not over one single recruiting class because that is what your playing roster is made up of in college. Even a #1 recruiting class likely wont mean jack if you dont recruit well over the entire 4-5 year period.

I understand Tennessee was young the last few years. That is why I've said over and over the jury is still out on Dooley as a coach and this year will be the one that probably determines what kind of coach he is. (Most coaches would have been fired after two losing seasons in a row at a program as prestigious as Tennessee but because of the circumstances he inherited he deserves more time).

Tennessee still had far better talent than Vandy did on paper in every single class that was on the field playing from the freshman to the senior classes in last year's game.

Im not arguing that. Tennessee did have far better talent than Vandy. The difference is that your older less talented guys have been in a world class strength program and have had elite coaching for 3-4 years. No player in high school will get that kind of coaching and strength training. It doesn't matter in certain positions, but UT had to do it at the worst possible positions also. It is more favorable to have stronger, smarter, experienced players in key positions rather than having to rely on pure talent alone.

So you would've taken UT's junior and senior class over Vandy's last year?

Well Bama has had the #1 class 4 out of the last 5 years. Going to bet my life savings on Bama to win the NC since it is a lock they will win it. Afterall, they have the most talent. Glad I saw this thread.

Franklin is recruiting well but who the hell did they beat last yr worth a crap? He looks good because he replaced gomer pile. If he replaced bobby Johnson right after he retired people wouldnt be all over his jock. Bobby Johnson bowl yr was ten times more impressive

I tried telling you all months ago about these kids from Trinity but was laughed at. Hatcher would not be at UT (USC) and White was going to de commit from louisville and was ready to go to Vandy. Nobody would listen though. Wright will most likely follow and a few more. You can begin to eat crow now. (for those who doubted me) UK is the biggest loser in all of this. They cannot even land their own in state kids. Cant blame them though. I wouldn't go to UK either unless I was a hoops star.

Here we go. Are you going to eat crow, if Hatcher flips later on in the season?
