13' JUCO TE Brandon Vandenburg

I do think Franklin is cheating any way he can.....How can Vandy look the other way with him cheating like that.....When is the NCAA & SEC going to do something about it? He is cheating as much as the Bammers....There is no way Vandy should be competitive in the SEC...Time for the SEC to do something......

He's charismatic, he has Vandy improving, and he can offer early playing time. It's hardly a shock why some recruits buy into this.

Vandy's schedules for 2011, 12 and 13 are extra easy. That changes after this year. Except for their bowl game they didn't beat a single team with a winning record. Franklin will be gone to a greener pasture this time next year.

How does Vandy get an easier schedule than all the other SEC teams ? If this is true the SEC needs to change it and punish Vandy for cheating....The SEC needs to send some investigators to Vandy....Slive & the NCAA needs to do something NOW !!!

Guess noone else has made a typo typing on a cell phone. The kid has a 4.0 GPA through two years of college with some offers from some presigous universities. I believe that is a more accurate gauge of his intelligence than a typo on a cell phone.

I like the pickup yall got on Quinn as well. You can't teach that combination of size and speed. Does he have 2 years to play 2 or 3 years to play 2? thanks

IIRC, he has 2 to play 2.

That's garbage. Did we back off this kid? Since when did Vandy start accepting JUCO's?

We haven't taken then in the past. Regardless, a JUCO still has to show the ability to succeed in a Vanderbilt class setting to be admitted. Jordan Rodgers was a JUCO and this will be only the second one that I can personally think of.

Neither of our JUCOs went to JUCO because of grades. They went that route because of their light recruitment out of HS.

James Franklin himself admitted on the radio in Nashville that Vanderbilt is making some concessions on admissions for athletes.

Ancher? Maybe dodged a bullet with this one, gentlemen.

It was a typo. Check his tweet after that.

And your very own Arian Foster tweeted this yesterday:

"I know PhDs in many fields that couldn't spell to save their lives. Grammar is not the end all be all of intelligence."

Smart kid. Don't like him because he plays for the Texans but his tweets are always a joy to read.

You need an apostrophe after the last "s" in Stallings.

Link to a podcast for that? Vanderbilt admissions looks at each athlete on a case by case basis. They still have to have shown exemplary work throughout their prep career. Are kids getting in now that wouldn't have gotten in 10 years ago? Absolutely. I'm not naive enough to stick my fingers in my ears and yell "la la la" as if nothing is happening. But the fact is the athlete still ha to show the ability to do the work and succeed. If they don't show that, VU will not admit them.

Vanderbilt leads the SEC in graduation rate and in black male athlete graduation rate. Franklin isn't happy with this because neither number is 100%(not sure how either or determined either).

In high school I had a 3.6(4 point scale)and a 24 ACT. I applied to Vanderbilt and was denied admission. Had I been an athlete on scholarship, I would have been admitted.

Point is there are still tons if great players in the pool for Vanderbilt to choose from but there are always non-qualifiers that VU can not and will never be able to take.

Not everyone on the VU football team has a 30+ ACT score.

Ole Miss and NC St both had winning records.
