Winning the acc doesn't mean you are out of mediocrity.
They were at the middle of the pack even in the ACC, they won that last year. Now they're at the top of the ACC. I wasn't talking about in the grand scheme of things.

Winning? They won 6 games 2 yrs ago and still managed a top 5 class that Feb. Dabo's gotten lucky that the ACC has been atrocious the last few years, outside of VT. If FSU ever gets going again Dabo will wilt, he's a terrible gameday coach that refuses to accept blame.
What have you done for me lately? Simple as that. Clemson already has a top recruiting staff. Production on the field from the past year helps even more.

Sure does make you wonder what is going on...the kid just said 4 days ago that he will not be deciding any time soon. Then, 4 days later he has committed to Clemson, who really wasn't even mentioned as a school that he was considering. I don't get it. It must be the $$$$$$!

Bowlinggreenvol, I know you said you went to grad school at Clemson, but I don't get the sense that you have any fondness for that school. Why is that? I'm just curious.

The money argument is getting old, IMO.

+1.

They don't even have that great of a class right now. 18th on Rivals, 26th on 247. Only 3 4*/5* players on Rivals, which is less than us.

I'm thrilled RN isn't going to be in the SEC.

Or, he already had his mind made up and didn't give a **** if he made Fortenberry look silly.

Thank you. Can we please not just jump to the conclusion that because a prospect picks some other team it MUST be because they are cheating or bribing them? Is that really the only reason why a kid wouldn't pick CDD right now?

Now that we are comparing UT to Clemson... That is the only reason to pick Clemson over UT right now. If UT has a less than 8 win season then that will change things. Holding off makes sense to me. But that's me and I'm a homer.

I went in there very fond of Clemson and almost chose Clemson for undergrad, so when I was given the opportunity to attend for grad school I jumped on it. But once i got there and dealt with their arrogance and constantly comparing their program to that of an SEC one and more specifically UT it just really turned me off. I met a guy from Nashville whose brother attended UT, so he had experienced Knoxville/Neyland and he said the atmosphere and gameday at UT couldn't compare to that of Clemson. I found it hard to believe and wasn't surprised when it didn't live up to my expectations (although it is a great atmosphere just not upper SEC equivalent).

I could care less about Tommy Bowden but the way his firing went down and the roll Dabo played in it leaves much to be desired. He relayed alot of internal staff issues (don't know specifics or magnitude) to the AD behind Bowdens back and basically weaseled his way into the interim HC spot. All this after Bowden promoted him to AHC to keep from losing him to Saban's initial Bama staff. For that I have no respect for Dabo.

They were a very corrupt fanbase (and successful program) under Charlie Pell and Danny Ford and I truly believe after wallowing in mediocrity for 20 yrs they're ready and willing to get back to that level at all costs. In the last few years Clemson has managed to grab the top player or two in AR, FL, NC and now GA despite averaging an 8-5 record during Dabo's tenure. They're beating out UF, Bama and AU for guys without having any clear advantages; less tradition/history, less recent success, facilities equivalent or lacking, player development greatly lacking it just doesn't add up to me.

I had a very similar experience going from FSU to UT for grad school. The SEC arrogance of some of the students was a turn off because they would bash FSU for seemingly no reason. That all stopped after the '08 season and the Fulmer-Kiffin-Dooley saga unfolded. The difference is that I still loved UT and root for the Vols.

Except UT has a tradition that didn't start with Bowden. It's long and a winning tradition. Clemson...not so much.

Clemson cheating goes back to Frank Howard, who got it legitimately from none other than Paul "Bear" Bryant. That tradition lives on at Alabama and Clemson. No wonder they like hiring Bryant proteges. Howard, Pell, Ford were all Bryant pupils.

Alright, thanks, man! I was just curious, like I said. I have a friend who did his Masters at Clemson, and from what I gather from him, it's not that impressive of a town or football program (in the real scheme of things) although it is a nice college town and football school. Naturally, we're all skeptical of them when they pull in big time recruits for this reason. I don't know if they cheat or not myself.

Sooner or later it will all come out in the wash, so if they are cheating they will get caught.

I wish I could be as confident that all cheaters will get caught as you are.

$$$ cheating is easier to catch, but there are sooo many ways a school can cheat it's impossible to catch them all. Summer jobs, jobs for family, ebay, rentals, discounts, online classes...it really is a joke that the NCAA acts like they enforce the rules.
