13' GA S Vonn Bell (Ohio State signee)

Just one player albeit an important one. This staff needs to make sure this never happens again. UT giving this guy the cold shoulder was inexcusable. Dooley had me fooled for two years and two games. Hopefully this ship is going to get righted from here on out.

A decent article, but a little dramatic for my taste. Especially the point about blaming Dooley's lack of effort as being the primary reason.

If that was really the case, then why go overboard in making that point? My feeling is that he really didn't want to play at UT and Dooley knew it so he went elsewhere.

I think Bell and the coach at this school are full of it.

My first and absolute last thoughts on Vonn Bell.

He had the opportunity to become a Vol legend, move on to the NFL, and to be loved and revered by hundreds of thousands of Tn. fans for the rest of his life.

He chose Tatoo U (a team with one, count em, ONE bowl win over an SEC opponent in their entire school history).

In five years there probably won't be 10 people in the entire state of Ohio (or Tennessee for that matter) who will even remember his name.

karma . Live with it.

I'm done with him.:flush:

Agree with every point made. I still have trouble with a kid saying he grew up dreaming about UT, playing in Neyland, the power T, etc not fulfilling that dream when given the opportunity. Dooley screwed up but he's gone, you like the new coach and believe he's gonna do great things, the Power T, Neyland stadium, 100,000 fans and facilities are all still there..why not show some character, put your money where your mouth is, and be a key part of the class that begins to turn around your "childhood dream" team. Were I him and I honestly grew up wanting to play for UT and the new coach did as much to get me the last 2 months as CBJ did, I'd have signed before NSD and not done that ceremony that embarrassed UT. Still think there was some dishonesty there IMHO.

We all wanted him to wait. Remember when we said the longer this thig drags out the better chance we have.
We asked for this.

this is my last post on this subject.......

beat of luck to VB. i want people who want to come to tennessee that want to be a part of something special. to rebuild. that type character is engrained in winning.

now on to dooley. hes an fng toolbag. there, done.

You might have a point.... if several other HS football coaches in TN hadn't come out and talked about Dooley's lack of effort as well. So yeah, I have no problem believing Bell or his coach.

This.

I think the article is a good read to counter the "Butch Jones can't recruit" crowd.

If he wanted to be Vol, he could have and would have been a Vol. He wanted to go somewhere else. It was his choice. To blame it on someone else is silly.

Let's move on and support the kids that are here.

Completely ignorant. Gruden was never coming here. People need to get of Gruden's sack and
move on.

Exactly. I was, like most I believe, all for Gruden if it would have happened. The hype was great and the threads were epic, but I hope most people didn't bet their retirement that he was coming here. The fact that he did not take an NFL job this year shows that he has no interest in coaching at any level.

This.

Dooley did suck, no ones debating that. But he's not an idiot. If Bell was throwing himself at Tennessee like he and his coach try to make it seem, Dooley would not have ignored it. Its not logical.

Soon. Remember he didn't want to follow his friend Dooley. Butch is just the next coach before gruden. Gruden will hold out until CBJ gets fired. It will happen.....soon.
