I think its funny that people hate Dooley and say how bad he sucks, but think he would be able to outrecruit urban for Vonn. Makes no sense.

Multiple things according to "recruiting insiders" (11w, 247, rivals, etc) if they're to be believed:
1) Bama prioritized Eddie Jackson and Antonio Conner (didn't end up snagging Conner) over VB
2) Bama wanted to move him to CB, apparently "didn't think he was physical enough to play safety" according to Andrew Bone at Rivals
3) At one point told him that they didn't know whether they'd have a spot for him (again according to Andrew Bone)

Bama never prioritized him in the same way that OSU and Tennessee did. That is, the way Butch Jones did. Derek Dooley dropped the ball on him, imo.

Very surprised and very disappointed by Bell's decision. I was certain he was a Vol.

SGMVols' post above absolutely nailed it. Jones HAS to turn the narrative around regarding our program. Right now, we are a loser program in the eyes of recruits. I actually think that's why so many are "shocked" when they get on campus and see how wonderful our facilities are. It doesn't jive with the perception they are fed that we are an SEC bottom-feeder.

I think (hope) Butch Jones can do it. Time will tell.

God I hate to say this because it will come off in a negative light but the suspenders, the horned rimmed black glasses, he looked like Malcolm X. After seeing his presentation to be quite honest, I'm glad he went to OSU, we don't need the drama.

URBAN CAN BASK IN IT, and I also wonder if this job is less stressful on his family and his health,or is he was just in remission that T-bow is gone,

URBAN is a joke and how he gets recruits is beyond me, we saw what happened when he lost his marquee player.

You saw what happened when he lost his OFC...... He joined the Big 10 because as we all know it's weak and he can thrive off that. Hope Bell does great and Urban has another condition and then maybe he will stop coaching.

Urban called the Vonn Bell recruitment a "street fight", and said that he didn't know he had secured his commitment until two minutes before he went live on ESPNU this morning. He called him and said "You know I'm in right?"

I don't care what people say about Vonn Bell, if he was truly a Vol fan at heart, he would have committed to us a long time ago. We needed him a lot more than Ohio St. did. We offered this kid so much and he just turns us down like we don't mean anything. He could had helped our program in so many ways and he could have been the next Eric Berry for all we know. If he thinks he's going to win a national championship at Ohio. St. then so be it. I respect the fact that he always loved UT but I think he made the wrong decision by being a Buckeye. I don't hate the kid but I hope he doesn't succeed at Ohio St.

Well, I just had a little talk with my cousin who is best friends with VB's girlfriend. He told her this morning he was coming to UT, she even wore a Tennessee hoody to school and was watching it live when he picked that school up north. She broke down in tears and was still upset about it at lunch. Seems his brother got in his ear really hard or something shady went on from the other end. Who knows. The same cousin I just referenced was at Austin Sanders signing today and she said he is super stoked about playing for us. Oh well, he needs to look at the amount of talent we have put in the NFL before he makes the announcement that tOSU is going to be the better route to the league. smh

I really don't think tOSU fans know what they got. Great coach, sure. He won't beat a top SEC school, and he'll quit as soon as he gets "stressed out."
