'13 GA RB Chaz Thornton

He wasn't all that, and the bag of chips that a lot of people thought he was, or at least that's what I gather.

It's just his measurables that's all he wasn't named Atlanta Journal Constitution 1st Team RB because he wasn't all that and a bag of chips and wasn't in the final 5 for GA Player of the Year also won Co Player of the Year in Region 8 AAA along with Deshaun Watson. It just boils down to his size 5'8" 175lbs.

he is the same size or bigger than highly ranked apb's yearly

not just his size holding him back in the eyes of scouts

#1 APB from GA Tyren Jones
5'8 185lbs per rivals

#6 APB from NC TJ Logan
5'9 175lbs

Gos back to my saying in a previous thread some schools compensate recruiting analysts especially the big schools. Walton is a very big school Stephens Co isn't

could be the case....but don't say that his size is what is holding him back

Same thing happened to Marteze Waller last year he led the state in rushing one year was top 3 another he was 5'11 205 and ran a 4.5 but he was from a little town in Putnam Co.

Western Carolina is the latest school to offer Thornton. Thornton impressed recently at Georgia Tech summer camp & it looks like they will offer soon. All Thornton has to do is take the SAT (scheduled for October) and it looks like it will be a done deal. He ran a 4.47 and 4.45 forty at the GT camp.

Ialot of yall followed Chaz's recruiting and supported him so I thought i would give you and update on what he accomplished Friday night.

Thornton closes in on 6,000 yards for career

Stephens County RB Chaz Thornton is three yards short of 6,000 rushing for his career. The senior has 1,224 yards rushing this season. He has broken Tauren Poole's school record of 5,413 for a career. The Georgia High School Football Historians Association lists only 15 players in history who have rushed for more than 6,000 yards in their careers.

He rushed for 174 yards last night the total put Thornton over 6,000 yards rushing for his career, passing Herschel Walker in the Georgia High School record books.

Not even rated on rivals and committed to ga southern? Had to have had an injury or something.

Just a victim of the recruiting analysts you hardly ever see a smaller guy ranked high. He's a 2 star on 247 because he went to there camps. Every recruiting analyst in the south is based out of Atlanta and big UGA homers so they rank every UGA commit high explained the frequently asked question about UGA recruits in achieving there products of bias recruiting analysts

In 2012 rushed for 1723 yards and 24 TDS not as good as his junior campaign of 2167 yards but when ur the only weapon on the team the whole defensive game plan is designed around stopping him. He had 11 offers the biggest being Bowling Green, South Alabama and GA State. GA Southern was the best fit for him to be successful it's not always about the big school. I know he will be successful after football and that's the primary focus

Thanks OV! I'm sure he will do just fine there.

That's a very interesting point about uga recruits being overrated.. Would explain why they've always underachieved so bad.. It always gets blamed on Richt, but maybe you're right about their guys being ranked higher than they should.

Shows just how much of a crap shoot recruiting is. There was a time when Keyante Green and Chaz Thornton looked like can't miss 4 star type prospects.

With where we are and our RB recruiting, I would take both guys today and call it a win. Would probably be the 2 toughest runners we would have on the roster. JMO
