Johnson also has offers from Auburn, Cincinnati, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Mississippi State, N.C. State and Southern California. Thus far, he has visited Georgia twice and Alabama once. He plans to check out FSU on April 16.

"The USC [offer stood out]," Johnson said. "When I heard about it, I was surprised they even knew about me all the way from California."

According to Johnson, all the programs that have offered "are kind of on the same level right now."

Rising junior Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) recorded 152 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks in 10 games last season. As a result he is one of the most coveted prospects from Georgia with offers from Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, FSU, Mississippi State, South Carolina, USC and many others.

"Trey has super instincts," Central Gwinnett coach Todd Wofford said. "He has a nose for the football. Trey plays with a motor that doesn't stop. He's one of those defensive players that tries to run through blockers, linemen, running backs or whoever is in his way. Trey just blows everything up. If he doesn't make the initial hit you better believe he will be in on the tackle. Trey Johnson is a tackling machine."

While Johnson is stout against the run he knows he has to play the pass better. But he also knows that he's still young and has two years left of high school ball to keep refining his linebacking skills.

"it was more than i expected," johnson said. "i really like the coaching staff and i liked the location of the school. Knoxville seems like a nice town."
"right now i just want to get to as many schools as i can," johnson offered. "i want to see everybody first then start to sort it out. At the end of the summer, i hope to narrow it down to 10 schools."
"tennessee helped themselves a lot," johnson said. "it's very early in the process for me, but tennessee is definitely an impressive place and a big reason is because of their coaching staff. It was a good trip."

It's not very often that you see a sophomore just physically dominate his competition like Johnson does. Top 100 shoe-in next year.
