'13 GA DE Joe Sanders (UT Committ 11/7/12)

The players have sad multiple times that the defense is super complicated and a lot to grasp. I honestly think it's dumbed down to where it can't possibly be any more simple.

The Steelers are masters of the 3-4 and their D although different is basically the same and is similarly complicated for new players, even first rounders almost never start for a couple of years. Troy Polamalu didn't start until his second year.

If everyone gets it and can play with total discipline then it's lights out, on the other hand....

I think the coaches feel like Gray understands the defense better than Bonner. I say throw Bonner out there and let him take his lumps, really how much worse could it be?

Gray, Bonner, Coleman, and McNiel all need to be on the field at the same time. They are our most athletic and our future. Let them take their lumps against weaker competition and thus be better prepared for next year. Look at Florida's secondary compared to last year. It's a shame Randolph is out.

Lions ate good I see.

:salute:

What do you think of this, Jay?

Lol I just meant they all should be playing before Teague, Moore, and Waggner. I wouldn't mind seeing Thomas and Orta in the rotation, either.

I don't know much about the "Star" but I would think Coleman would do alright there. Maybe I'm wrong. BB knows that stuff better.

Ah gotcha. Yeah, I'm with you. Youth movement is better than any movement (or lack there of) that we are working with now

BB killin it in here today.

Sal has FAILED miserably as a DC. We may not have the best talent or most experience in the SEC, but we do have enough good, young talent to be way more competitive than we are now. Watching the games, even before the ball is snapped I'm smh thinking "what are they doing??"

The major problem with that is the players are thinking that too...

That made me laugh out loud. What the hell is there to understand when our own DC doesn't even understand how to use it?

lol i dont know. heck ive been wondering why Bonner hasnt been on the field all year. im sorry but #10 should have never been on the field on the defensive side.

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound defensive end from LaGrange High School said he picked Tennessee over football scholarship offers from South Florida, Western Kentucky, Central Florida, Eastern Kentucky and South Alabama.

He’s ranked as the No. 119 overall prospect in Georgia by 247sports.

whew, impressive. doolander burning up the recruiting trail :jpshakehead:

I suspect he will eventually bulk up (330 or so) and be a decent 3-4 DL. He's not terribly fast, but strong enough to plug a hole and occupy a couple of linemen. Project perhaps, but he has potential to fill a necessary role on the team.

Yeah, I agree I don't think the film looks bad, but it's not great either ie project. If Dooley has seen and evaluated him in person then it could be a good pickup eventually, without an in person evaluation I would be suspect if he did not attend camp.

I have no problem with LSU offering non-rated recruits as long as they are in camp to evaluate them in-person against real competition.

We'll see.

I agree Dooley needs to go, but I dont mind this commit. The film doesnt look bad and he's defiantly physically there, and if he is an early enrollee that makes it better.

I don't know much about football, but is there really that much to know about a scheme or defense in man-on-man? I mean, in man situations, throw Bonner out there and say your job is to make sure that one man doesn't catch the ball. Is it more complicated than that?

Yeah, I thought that was clean form the start. When Kiffin had him play some his freshman year on the O he made some nice plays with his hands.

EDIT: Something tells me when this kid leaves he will bash this staff relentlessly, and he should. Always felt bag for Teague. Seemed like a good kid that got grossly mismanaged to a level no one could ever surpass.

This staff gave him someone no one else in the SEC probably would've.. a chance to play. IF, any talk occurs it should start from a look in the mirror. He made one position change. Several players at several schools switch positions multiple times in an attempt to touch the field or be successful. Austin Johnson for example changed positions more than #10. If you don't have it, you dont have it. Period.
