Oregon is one of those places which treats marijuana like a minor traffic violation.

"... in Oregon possessing up to an ounce is a violation, not a criminal offense."

According to Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson, "People cannot be arrested or jailed for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana." That "has been a low law enforcement priority for 35 years in Portland and this will not change."

isnt it the same in tn? anything under an ounce u get a ticket

Not really worried about the photo. Be interested to see how many people on here smoked weed between the ages of . Besides it wasn't a Michael Phelps like photo of him taking a large toke out of the bong.

Hope when everything shakes out he is a Vol. We need help on the D-line.

Not sure how my opinion of an illegal substance and my views of it speak to anything other than me being someone who tries to do the right thing and stay out of trouble and or avoid problems.

I don't look for problems. I don't take the risk of using drugs and then when it all goes bad scream how did this happen. If you can end up in court, jail, prison, or on an offender list, I just choose to not put myself in a position to be involved. It may be square, closed minded, or speak to being a nerd. It's the law, I choose to follow it and avoid the problems/drama. I like to think my parents did a good job and IMO, plays a very big part in things like this. :hi:

Now you're attempting to criticize others by championing yourself and your "character." This is silly.

And possession of marijuana is a class A misdemeanor in Tennessee, which is the highest level misdemeanor (unless you have a sufficient amount to be considered to have with intent to sell..then you've got yourself a felony).

So you CAN'T be arrested for a small amount of weed? Really?

DUI can get you thrown in jail if your operating a motor vehicle and are obviously high. It may be in your system, but can still land you in jail.

If your employer looks the other way for drug use, I would suspect they just need you back in the drive thru taking orders. Cars are backing up.

And the award for most butt hurt of the day goes to Lebanon.

Also nowhere in there did I say I smoke weed, I don't even smoke cigarettes. I'll admit I used to back a year+ ago but not anymore.

But you do need to open your eyes though. Personally I think marijuana should be legalized and just heavily taxed. It would help the economy two fold by making huge revenue and lessening the stress on the penitentiary system.

A rose by any other name is still a rose. Weed by any other name is still illegal. ILLEGAL.

It doesn't matter what, who or where someone uses it. It states in the laws of this land that owning, growing, possessing, smoking, using or selling weed is illegal. Doesn't matter if you have one ounce or 100 pounds of the stuff. It is still illegal.

Now as much as the Frito makers and Krystals want weed to be legal, as long as the law of our land says it is illegal then you can and will get arrested for possessing it, smoking it, selling it or growing it.

Argue all you want about whether it is right or wrong, you cannot argue the fact that weed is an illegal substance. To do so makes you ignorant of the law. Guess what, ignorance of the law is not an excuse and your butt will still go to jail for possessing it, smoking it or selling it. If you do not think so, then go to the county jail or the county penal farms and see how many of them are in there for possessing it, smoking it or selling it.

Now, knowing 18 year old kids, I have raised three of them, all of them know what weed looks like or smells like. All 18 year old kids know it is illegal, hell that is why they try to hide it from people. Bellamy saying he didn't know the bong was there before the picture was taken is probably a true statement.

Do we take him or not? Not our call. He is going to announce and it is probably going to be for Georgia so this discussion is really a moot point in my opinion. But to get it straight, weed is illegal.

Do you realize how large an amount of weed one ounce is?? That is a freezer bag full and highly compressed. An ounce will get you felony intent to sell, now if you just had a gram or so on you that's a different story.

Ain't nobody in prison for maryjane possession. Some have spend a night or two in jail, but not in prison. Probably not many in for dealing just it. Plenty of them in for dealing it along with other illegal drugs. Which is kind of the point.

Mind altering substances are not good. Don't mean folks won't use them or that they can't be made legal. However, just because something is legal doesn't make it good or the right thing to do.

Legalized "Medical" maryjane is just a method to skirt around the federal laws to encourage folks to be more accepting of it. Smoking clearly causes cancer - but that's OK as long as you can get high. Give me a break.

There's no hope man I gave up a long time ago. I stated my opinion too but you just got to move forward knowing you are doing what you think is best for your health.

BEST thread by far!!! Couldn't help but laugh when i read some of these.

Something to think about though
SPEEDING=ILLEGAL (just like weed, too much is jail time)

JAYWALKING=ILLEGAL (everybody who has been to a game at Neyland probably broke the law by jaywalking!!lol)

but tyler bray drinking was okay? A. Foster getting drunk and punching someone was cool? Its funny, i dont want you anywhere near ut. Stuff is legal around the country. Time this state grows up. We have some of the best herbage in the country. Lets get that market going. Stop wasting police time and wasting smokers time. These guys should be allowed to smoke. Who cares?

There are some sticks in some butts that need to be removed.

Lol, so true... If they outlawed farting due to air pollution hazards , some of the people on here would walk around all day with thier butt clinched so tight it might actually break that stick that's been wedged so far up there for far to long......

I'd still rip freely. I might even stage the world's first public fart-in.

To attempt to remain on topic with an obligatorily general and positive statement, Davin Bellamy would be a nice pick up to bolster our defensive line depth....

I'm just very wary of any kind of clashing in the locker room to disrupt the team we are trying to build is all.

It's not realistic if you think there aren't players on every elite team that occassionally smokes. It doesn't have to cause a lockerroom disruption.

And, by the way, I am not in anyway condoning the usage of said substance. I'm simply making a case that it happens, everywhere. It's simply a case of the user being smart about it.

It's cool. I know it happens everywhere on just about every team. i would love for him to come here and be a VFL. i think we would help this young man mature with all of our resources and turn out to be just what we need on our defensive side of the ball. Go Vols!:good!:

As long as they're smart enough to not get caught...

I feel like the kids are given a heads up on the d/l before "unannounced" drug screening.

That's what has me concerned about this kid... Is he smart enough to not get busted? Doesn't look like it at this point...

If you dont think that 98 team or any championship team didnt have guys who smoked weed you are crazy.

On another hand I couldve looked at that picture and never noticed that device for smoking marijuana. I am getting old.

I didnt think the clashing would be from smoking weed. I thought it might come from him trying to be an individual star and not onboard with a team idea is all.

I think he gets that. He's just hesitant about accepting a recruit that is possible trouble. Nothing wrong with that. It's his opinion.

I also don't think it's a bad opinion to have considering our history with high profile players over the past three years.
