You are not a psychiatrist according to yourself, and dementia can and does include memory loss. Not sure why a "PhD Pharmacist" would need the DSM anyway since the DSM offers no pharmacological information and you would not be doing any dx anyways. So, govols09 could be correct in suggesting dementia as a cause for a lapse or loss in memory.
Furthermore, dementia AND amnesia may have non biological causes such as those who are intoxicated, so a check for an increase in ventricle size suggesting white matter loss is not necessary. An MRI is not necessary to diagnose dementia as many in the mental health field are able to make this diagnosis without access to fMRIs.
You appear to have an immense need to impress those on this board, which suggests to me inferiority issues. You may want to consult an Adlerian therapist. Now I am sure you will hop on your 27" Mac dipped in gold and perched on your cherry oak desk, and go google some kind of retort, which you are welcome to do.
Unless you are a member of the APA and working on the finalization of the DSM V due out in May then I will stick with my knowledge.
Anyway, this is the Lawson thread so sorry Volnation for the distraction. I did look both ways before posting this.:salute:
