'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Or Lawson plans to keep his commitment to AU and was just letting the coaches know via text. IMO he would be the best get for us in this class, I think him not ever actually de-committing set this weekend up. You don't take 10+ people on a trip to AU to tell them no. JMO

Yup. He has been committed and has never waivered that I am aware of. I think he was just doing due diligence, likes Tennessee, but Auburn was his first choice. He seems like a young man with a lot of integrity, a big heart, and has been torn on which way to go. I will be shocked (and elated) if he chooses us but am afraid that all signs point to the barn.

This is the annual big 5* we don't get and never had a real shot at see DJ Humphries and James Wilder Jr

We probably won't get Lawson but we absolutely do have a real shot with him. Same as DJ Humphries. You are right about JWJ. That was an epic troll job if I've ever seen one.

Everything he has said is the opposite of what you're saying. When the coaches were fired he said he'd open it back up. After visits he said he was torn and didn't know who to choose.

How so? Did I not say that the young man was torn on which way to go? Did the young man decommit after Aubie coaches were fired? In other words - did he open his recruitment up? He looked around sure, but did he ever publicly decommit?

He handled his recruitment better then anyone else I've seen this year.
Which ever school he chooses ill respect his decision.

There's a reason 6/8 rivals analysts are picking UT for Lawson.

If it were the other way around and Lawson was a UT commit this entire time and went around on OVs to Auburn and Clemson you and everyone else would call that wavering. And meltdowns would occur. See the Jason Carr thread from his flirtation with Bama recently.

Stop pretending Lawson hasn't wavered on his auburn commitment. He most certainly has.

damn kid you are a debbie downer.

Not at all. I just try to be realistic. I just can't fall in line with the group who thinks every recruit is a UT lock until he announces for another school.

"He's all ours".

-Kid picks school other than UT-

"He lied to our coaches"!
"He is afraid of competition"!
"We found out he has grade issues"!
"We are lined up for bigger fish"! (Hello AJ Turman).

Dude being realistic means realizing where we stand with the guy. Not going off how many ****ing visitors the guy has on an OV.

I'm not trying to start anything, but most of the optimism stems from Uzzi. I admit this isn't like the Janes Wilder situation but it does have some similarities to DJ Humphries and I was bashed in that thread as well for saying he wouldn't commit here

Skeeter says Vonn has been working Lawson all week. How is Uzzi the only one implicated here?

Lots of smoke of Lawson to UT. Regardless of his visit to AU.

Ron, didn't Uzzi our somebody say that Carl had silently decommitted from Auburn but didn't go public with it to save the publicity?

So because DJ didn't commit to UT we were never in it? That makes no sense.

With your argument UNC was never in it for North.

Self-inflated sense of importance IMO.

you mean the optimism doesnt stem from the several articles saying that Lawson is/was a UT lean?

If you look at the facts OBJECTIVELY, we are in it for Lawson.

According to KoachKletus you're only in it for a recruit if they sign with you. So every single CFB player only had one school in it for their services. Dumbest thing I've ever heard on VN.

As I said earlier, I don't believe he wavered but rather rather was doing due diligence after the Auburn coaches were fired. I guess we differ on the term "waver". If memory serves me, CL always has had Aubie as his number one. He allowed himself the chance to meet and greet the new coaches, and in the meantime, he also allowed himself the opportunity to see other schools. Some folks call it "wavering", I just consider it the young man was making sure he was making the right decision. Don't get me wrong, I want to see him in Orange as much as the rest of Volnation. :hi:
