'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

He is a scholar as much as an athlete. It wouldn't be a shock to see him end up at GT. Still don't think he goes to the Barn tho.

Yep, not a big city guy and wants to play in the SEC, so naturally he'd go to the biggest city in the South and play in a pitiful football conference.

I thought he was a small town guy. GT is in the heart of Atlanta. The two don't add up.

It is ironic, but Knoxville isn't exactly a village. Georgia Tech plays in the weakest side of the ACC, the side where they con go 6-6 and make the ACCCG...He couldn't possibly give up playing in the SEC to play for GT...

Great academics, his father played there, DL coach is there...sure he's going to take a look. Even the majority of analysts think we are the ones to beat. AU vs UT in the end---Tennessee.

IMO i think that if Ga tech is even on his mind then it seems like he is not sold on sticking with AU so that might be good for us.

Don't buy into that "wants a small town atmosphere" stuff too much. Once future opportunities start presenting themselves, you kind of drop that kind of thing down the priority list.

You all keep repeating the same BS about small town this, big city that..... Is there a quote anywhere that he said he didnt like big cities and liked a small town feel? Cuz i'm doubting it.

This guy has had his choice of every opportunity in the country from the get go.

I absolutely HATE big city life. I have always been a bumpkin town kinda guy and I moved to one of the bigger cities in the west for a job opportunity and a change of scenery. I still love the idea of moving back to the sticks, but money talks and bull**it walks.

I'm not saying he's going for GT, just saying he might be seeing something in a different light. Otherwise, why even visit? And yeh every school in the country pretty much has offered, but maybe he didn't like every other schools staff .

GA Tech has his old dl coach from auburn and his dad played there. If this statement is true I wouldn't be shocked that they are serious contenders.

I think the Dad played on national title team shared with Colorado. We tied Colorado that year which had we lost would might have given outright title to them.
Dad owes us. :loco:

I hear you. If anything I do think this shows he really is looking for a reason to not go to Auburn. I hope that is true.

I guarantee one thing his family is doing , is driving home the fact that most college football players don't have lasting careers in the league. Obviously , Lawson is one of those with a very good shot at it, but they are gonna want him to have a solid insurance (plan B). He can get a good education with any school he's still considering, but one has to wonder if the huge academic advantage of Tech weighs heavily. I think they don't like Franklin's character or he'd have looked more seriously at Vandy. Kinda the same for UF.

If he hates city life, does that mean he doesn't plan on pursuing a career in the NFL?
