Carl Lawson, who is the nations No. 2-ranked overall prospect by ESPN, made an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech on Wednesday.
Its a big surprise, but its not a big surprise.
@Volquest_Paul: RT @rivalsmike: #GaTech is a serious player for Carl Lawson I have been told. Agree with this... http://t.co/mpvDLo1G

I want Lawson so bad... He truly is a once in a decade type player. He reminds me a lot of Leonard Little with his size/body frame and his speed. I would hate to see him waste his talents at AU. Gus is not a proven head coach and he is an offensive guy. Their defense will not be anything there and there has never really been a passion about defense there. Here, we're trying to get back to the promised land and in the driver's seat with CBJ and staff to do just that. While CBJ is a great offensive mind, he has a lot of passion on the defensive side of the ball and just has a lot of passion for our program and to be the best, in general. I would much rather CBJ be my coach with the fire, energy, passion, and vision he has than Gus. Just my two cents...
Lawson is nothing like Little. Nowhere near the speed or length of Little.
My biggest concern about Lawson would be his ceiling. He is somewhat slow and short for the position and strong as an ox. I think he will be a very good player, but I don't think he is much closer to his ceiling than a typical top-5 player.
