'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

Good luck to this kid wherever he goes, hopefully it's UT. And if it's AU then i hope he has a great season except for 1 game

We're Vols and we'll find a way to make this a defeat cause that's what we do, but the reality is that we are in the final 2 of many recruits that we weren't even in the picture for a couple of months back. Butch *can* recruit, but it may be next year before the reality of that is manifest. He also *can* coach, and the very talented team that we currently have...this year's train wreck notwithstanding...will play far better over the coming years. Lord knows we'd all love to have CL, but the measurement of success isn't whether we can flip some 5 stars in a month or two, it's whether he can build and maintain relationships in the future, and whether he can elevate the play of the team we do have.

Any fair reading of the last couple of months points to a high confidence level that Butch can recruit and can coach up his team. Will be be beating Bama immediately? No, so learn to enjoy life in spite of that. But we will be in contention in the east within a couple of years, and that's got to be 1000% more fun than what we've been having over the last 5.

Great, now we have moral victories in recruiting too.

Coach Jones is visiting this week isn't he? If so, I'll hand him an envelope I picked up from Hugh Freeze during my recruitment this year and label it "For Carl's Eyes Only". Should seal the deal.

Ebb and flow. It ain't over. Recruiting is taking the good and the bad. Hopefully something happens to make him change his commitment by Monday.

Who said anything about a moral victory? I am pointing at concrete evidence that the ship is moving in the right direction in spite of not having sufficient time to completely mend this class. You can set reasonable expectations and rejoice in the obvious improvement, or you can be like the bulk of folks here and whine. I'm choosing the former, and if more folks here would do the same, they'll be a lot happier in the meantime.

Saw that from JC, not sure what to think aobut it considering I'm pretty sure Clemson was out of it. But, still can't be good news, further confirms the rumblings. Still no reason to panic.

I kind of hope that AU does offer $$$$, because I really don't think this kid wants any part of that. He doesn't like attention, and when/if that got out about accepting money, he would be getting alot of attention. The whole family just seems to have their heads on straight, and I think any shady dealings will actually push them away.

You could set your damn watch by the way the board react to reports you should have expected leading up to his visit. And a lot of you have been around long enough to know better.

Quick, let's take up a collection to lease a billboard on the way into AU's campus.

"Rodney Garner did not want you Carl"!!

Signed, VolNation.

Garner's rep is out there. He's not going down without a fight. Damn good recruiter. No one should be surprised at this situation. Hopefully when Lawson and family are in front of him this weekend they find something is off at the Barn. Hope is a good thing.

I have said before that my son has speed and agility with Lawson's tranier here in Marietta. I was told it was a 60/40 to Auburn aand nothing has changed. Although Lawson loves UT and his parents respect the university and Jones, Sr. has made up with Garner and that was the real piece to Carl going to AU. I will know more after seeing him on Friday but if I was a guessing man, AU is in the driver seat alone. I would be pleasantly surprised if he selected UT on NSD.

The Lawson's are good people and would reject any $ offer. Hell, Ole Miss offerred his head coach a job if they could sway him there. Of course, the offer was rejected.
