The staff is spending a ton of time within the rules recruiting Carl.* Sometimes that means talking to Carl, Sr.* Stripling was doing his part before he even left Cinncy.* Thig has a prior relationship with Carl, Sr. and he is now doing his part.** They are leaving no stone unturned as you might imagine.* I'm not sure the entire*defensive staff route is needed for the last in-home, but wouldn't be surprised if Stripling, Thig, and Jancek are there.*
The previous staff also recruited him very hard, but their only mistake (which everyone but Auburn made) was not offering Carl earlier.**That said, I think UT would have been more likely to get Carl if the Vols had won 8 games and Dooley and the staff were still there because of the relationships that had been developed.* Once Auburn fired its*staff, we were in prime position.* Carl liked Sal Sunseri, which goes to show you that recruiting is like any other type of relationship -- some kids click with certain coaches and some don't; just like Carl and Rodney Garner, even though Garner is known as a great relationship recruiter.
Perhaps Uzzi will share some interesting stuff after signing day that will make some on here (including Brent) say "Wow".* Recruiting is an interesting*thing and sometimes you can get head faked because these guys don't necesarilly tell the recruiting journalists everything.*
If the defense played half as well as the offense, we win 8 or 9 games. We beat UF, UGA, Miss St. USC, and Mizz. He couldn't exactly run out there and tackle on defense when they kept giving up huge runs and plays. What's done is done though. I don't think it's right to bash him for the defense's failures.
All vol I quote some nim rod talking to me. I'm not saying anyone is a bad poster.
And as far as Tyler bray goes how are you gonna fault a guy who put the 2nd best offense in ut history on his shoulders. Not to mention the offense only avg 26 minutes a game with 0 defensive help. Give it a rest t bray good qb, hated dooley
edit* I was agreeing with you btw
Hey Big Al, Nim Rod here.
Just making a comment of your assessment of Tyler Bray's capabilities as a QB.
I remember when Crompton was getting death threats and all kinds of ugly nasty post on volnation.
Then along came coach Kiffin. I am really glad he is gone, so lets not go there. But he did coach up and made Crompton a pretty good QB in 2009. Kiffin gave Crompton a game plan to follow that played into his abilities with the rest of the offensive team.
Bray was immature, but Dooley was flying by the seat of his orange pants, he just could not get it all together. The rest of the coaching staff (2011 & 2012) pretty much did the same and it trickled down to the players.
Bray may have made us all proud if he had been coached up properly. Time will tell, but to bash a TENNESSEE VOLUNTEER FOOTBALL PLAYER, just because he did not perform to your expectations, when you do not know any of the circumstances, is just plain stupid.
