'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

And Carr was pondering flipping to Bama just yesterday. Hard to sell other recruits on coming with you, when your not sure yourself what your doing. Using Carr as our shot to land Lawson or Bell may not be a very good arguement.

he just told the national champions no thank you to come to UT. i think that is a good person to be recruiting his peers.

Ummmmm NO.

"Man I was really thinking about Bama. Its a great program. They're winning big. Saban is cool. I had an open mind about it but once I compared there was no doubt where I needed to be. Bama was... the Vols will be. A few guys like us can come in, play early, and be part of creating a championship program rather than hanging on someone else's coat tail."

IF he really did take a hard look at Bama then solidify his commitment to UT then that makes his argument to guys impressed with Bama even stronger.

Starting today, I would agree with you. Any "recruiting" he did prior to today could very well be tossed out the window. "Yeah, come to Tennessee and help us win a title". Meanwhile he is OVing to Bama and it's all over the web he is considering his options. As of today, Carr will make for a solid boost on the recruiting front. :good!:

I don't see how Carr is trying to help when he isn't even 100% Vol. I don't think Lawson's visit on Feb 1 is going to change nothing. He has been there many times so he knows what to expect. I think his mind has been made up. Don't know if he is a Vol or not but I would say its been over for a couple of weeks now.

Read Carr's thread.

The only thing that matters about Lawson's trip to AU coming up is Garner. Either Lawson buys in and sticks or he realizes he hated him for a reason and flips to us. I think that is all it boils down to.

NCAA are crazy if they wont allow Peyton to be on campus during a recruiting visit, yet they will allow Cam to enroll in classes at AU again and be on campus while visits are occuring.

I think he could be on campus for a recruiting visit. I am pretty sure I have read where USC and Miami does it all the time.

When it came out that was visiting Bama I pretty much gave the reason above that he would stick with UT, even mentioned not riding Sabans coat tails. Glad to have this one wrapped up.

TENNESSEE
Carl Lawson, WDE (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton) -- The country's top-ranked weak-side defensive end, Lawson currently is a soft commit to Auburn. But he recently took official visits to Clemson and Tennessee, and both programs appear to be very much in the hunt. Lawson is the type of game-changing edge rusher the Volunteers desperately need, and that is something they made Lawson very aware of when he was in town last weekend. At this point, Tennessee feels like it definitely has a shot. Chris Nee

Didn't his dad say something to the effect that he would not be going to Clemson?

All of these articles keep putting them in the hunt, but I feel like they are out of it and this is a UT-AU battle.

Heard somewhere his dad wanted him in the SEC. AU, Tennessee and Ole Piss were 3 of his top 4. He eliminated Ole Miss and Clem$on isn't in the SEC. I assumed it was a 2-horse race between Auburn and us.

Brent and Paul:
Do we lead for Lawson?
He nor his dad will indicate Tennessee leads. I think Tennessee has positioned themselves well. But a looming Auburn visit has to be very concerning for the Vols.

I'm beginning to not like Hubbs. First he never gives any real info, secondly he probably screwed us with the OT out of Memphis with the begging deal.
