I am the type that likes to hear ESPN report things to feel most confident rather than local media. I guess because of the recent upsets we have had as far as getting our hopes up.
That said, ESPN Rumors has updated a little section talking about Carl Lawson recently declining to talk with LSU about a potential offer. They later went on to comment about the obvious 3 destinations for Lawson at this point: UT, UA, and Clemson. I wanted to post a piece of the section for you all that don't have access to all of the rumors:
"LSU attempted to make a late push to land the nation's No. 2 recruit and Auburn commit, Carl Lawson (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton). Milton was conflicted on the possibility of LSU as a destination. He then decided if Les Miles' squad would be a part of his recruitment or not.
"(LSU assistant) Brick Haley talked to Carl the other day, Milton coach Howie DeCristofaro told Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. After he left, I asked Carl You interested? He was like, I dont know, coach. Let me think about it. He came back 30 minutes later and said Coach, if they call, tell them no thanks. They just got in so late, and I dont really know much about them.
Auburn, Clemson and Tennessee are the primary candidates to land the top flight defensive end recruit."
Dave Hooker went on to comment what he thinks Lawson's current stance is:
"The nation's No. 2 prospect is still committed to Auburn, but is looking at several other schools. Clemson looked to be in good shape recently, but Tennessee's new staff has helped its standing with Lawson. Auburn and Ole Miss are in the running but need to make up ground. "
It seems to me that by saying Auburn and Ole Miss need to make up ground then Tennessee must be the favorites. Again, this is one guys opionion, but anytime ESPN is saying anything Tennessee with some positive news to it I get a little happy!
