'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

I haven't been to auburn nearly as much as I have Knoxville and Clemson, so my bias in ordering them may just be due to sheer volume. :hi:

Only been to AU once and it was alright can not really say anything bad about it. Clemson I have had some fun especially on the lake. Just a big difference in a college town vs a real city. UNC(Chapel Hill) is a college town, 10 minutes north is Duke(Durham) not that great, but 15 minutes east is NC State(Raleigh) a city. College town is all about the students, the local scene for them, and the parties on and around campus. At NC State the college is only a small part of the city. There is life on and around campus and alot more in the city. So it depends on what they are looking for.

He said he had a great visit. But a guy posted that in that article carl said he was still an auburn commit? I don't know if It says that in the article, I can't see it

According to Lawson, he enjoyed touring the campus. It was his fourth visit to the school.

On Saturday, Lawson spent a lot of time with Vols receiver commit Ryan Jenkins and Ole Miss running back commit Peyton Barber, who also were on campus for officials. Jenkins, who recently flipped from Clemson, used to be teammates with Lawson and Barber at Milton.

Lawson made the trip with several people in his family, including his mom, his father and his step-father. "I think they liked it," he said.

Lawson hung out with defensive line coach Steve Stripling a good bit.

"I saw his resume, and I think he's a great defensive line coach," Lawson said. "Before he took this job, a lot of people in the NFL wanted him to be the defensive line coach. He's put a ton of good defensive ends in the NFL."

Lawson also had plenty of face time with head coach Butch Jones.

"He really just talked to me about the opportunity at Tennessee," Lawson said. "He's a great guy. He's real down to Earth. I really like the coaching staff."

Next week, Lawson "most likely" will visit North Carolina. A week ago, he officialed to Clemson and also gave that visit a positive review.

Lawson has not said when he will have a final decision.

Lawson declined to shed much light on his recruitment as a whole, but did tell 247Sports he is still an Auburn commit. When asked to confirm a newspaper report that Ole Miss was pretty much now out of the running, Lawson replied, "I'm not going to comment on that stuff."

I hate to be internet tough guy, but the writing over at VolQuest is horrendous. That article wouldn't have sufficed for an entry level journalism course. They're solid investigators, though.
I appreciate getting FREE updates from people and don't see the sense in nitpicking anything. Thanks to whomever you may be.

Sounds like we went all out for his visit. Great job by the staff. Also, could Uzzi = Stepfather? Anyone else catch that (he implied he was on the visit in an earlier post)?

Yeah I get that, I was just wondering if he actually said it himself.' The guy was being all down about it it seemed. Just wondering if Carl was the one who had mentioned it

Ah, I get ya. My bad.

just ftr, nothing a recruit says matters until signing day now, really.

I doubt Uzzi is a family member..he's been a member of VQ for 142 months Lol.

I'd put money on it being Ritzmann.

Doesn't Ritz run a training place or something like that? And he trains Lawson as far as conditioning and stuff?

I visited Auburn and Clemson when looking at colleges 10 years ago, I thought the actual campuses were similar architecturally speaking, both were a bit flatter.

I didn't spend a ton of time in the area outside either campus, but both seemed very rural to me. Much more rural than Knoxville.

Auburn is practically farm country. Hence the nickname "Cownation".

Sorry to get a little off topic here and you guys may already be aware of what I'm going to say; and if so, I apologize.
Be aware that some of the people spreading negativity are coming here from a certain site where they are still in the throes of butthurt over the Gruden deal. They can't deal with the fact that they bought into the BS and were trolled. They are a miserable lot and their mission is to spread their misery and to rain on any potential parades. I am sure that you can pick them out when I get attacked for posting this.
Anyway, sorry for going off topic and now back to Lawson.
Reel 'em in Butch!
