"I feel like (Carl and Coach Garner's) relationship from the past is in the past. I feel like the decision will be about the best fit for Carl, but the visit on Wednesday was definitely a move forward. He's building that trust and we're trying to make that happen in little over a month."
Lawson Sr. has maintained that "ideally", Lawson would stick with his original commitment to Auburn...Lawson Sr. simply wants his son to be patient and process the information before making any rash decisions.
"Carl loves Auburn, he always has and Auburn is firmly in the mix. The number one thing he liked about Auburn is the people -- people around campus, he felt a warmth there and he felt comfortable," Lawson Sr. said.
"We'll see what his ultimate final decision is, but it's going to take a lot for him not to stick. He's trying to make sure this is ultimately what he wants to do."
Lawson and his mother visited Clemson last weekend. The takeaway for Lawson was meeting for Clemson and NFL star Brian Dawkins.
Lawson will visit Tennessee this weekend. Former AU assistant and Tennessee assistant Tommy Thigpen is visiting the Lawsons on Thursday. Lawson plans to take the SAT's on Jan. 25 weekend, so any official visit plans for that weekend aren't currently scheduled. (Note: He plans to major in kinesology). Lawson still plans an official visit to Auburn on Feb. 1.
When asked what other schools are in the mix, Lawson Sr. mentioned North Carolina, saying, "it's under consideration."
