'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

"Carl does not claim a leader but really likes Clemson, likes the coaches, the town etc. What he does not like is the ACC and the fact he has to play a bunch of bad teams with no fans. That said, him pushing off the TN visit was not because of Jenkins but because Clemson is where he wanted to go this weekend to check them out further."

More people would think this is a good thing than bad thing???

I drank all of this Kool Aid except the part about liking "the town" of Clemson. Moe's, the Cook-Out, and Western Sizzlin do not make a town.

Bruin reminds me of the guy that constantly freaked out on this board about a year and a half ago. His name escapes me. Anybody remember him? Any help Ron? Anyone?

I lose no sleep over any recruit. Just discussing things the way i see it. Today this thread should be less optimistic if we believe Uzzi. That's all.

I have been very positive in a number of threads. I think we stand to get a number of our big fish recruits if not a big haul.

Here's one potential problem I see: If Uzzi is in fact the Germanator (which we haven't confirmed) maybe Lawson's dad is telling him what he "wants to hear" regarding Tennessee.

Hopefully that's not the case.

Did you read what I quoted? It said Lawson keeps everything close to his chest and nobody really knows where he ultimately ends up playing. Peyton Manning was the same way when he was recruited. I was just meaning, if we are in the running, and recruits keep everything close to the chest, it worked out great for us with PM.

Oh I gotcha. I read it wrong the 1st time. Thought you were saying you think we will land Lawson just because he hasn't showed his hand similarly to Peyton and I wasn't sure how you came to that conclusion. But I think you're just saying you hope they play out the same way.

Past big time recruit not showing his hand vs. a current big time recruit now showing his hand.

Right, I just wasnt sure why he thought we would land Lawson just becaue he and Peyton were/are both not very candid with their recruitment. Lots of recruits don't show their hands every year who don't end up at UT. But I see now that he's just saying he hopes they end up playing out the same way.

Plus I remember reading somewhere that Lawson is a huge Peyton Manning Fan. I believe they said that Peyton was his favorite player

Never heard this before. Carl Lawson has a good friend and HS teammate named Peyton Barber. You sure you're not confused?

"I talked to one of Carl's family members and he said that he really like Tennessee and Peyton Manning is his favorite player. He also said that he doesn't like the new coach from Georgia and that he is pushing him away from Auburn. He said its between us and Auburn.

I really like our chances with Carl, especially if the OV goes well."

It has been said He likes a small town feel. This is very believable from what has been said before.
BV, if that is the case then we could be in trouble based on that one criteria....I live about 15 minutes from Clemson and that is one small town.

With Alpharetta being pretty much a bedroom community of Atl then Clemson will be a serious change of pace for him.

At the end of the day, why a recruit chooses one school over another is one of life's great mysteries.

Hope the kid wants to be a part of leading a great program (UT) back to prominence. Also, if he does choose UT that he is as good a college player as advertised. Good luck to him in his decision. Hope it is the right shade of orange without any blue.

He choose the Clemson visit over us this weekend and moving the visit had nothing to do with Jenkins.

Very bad news. No other way to spin it. He is clemson's to lose.

Not how I read it from the VQ guy. Sounds like his Dad wants him nowhere near Clemson. Just dont see it being Clemson, especially if he wants his Dad's advice.

I'm not taking shots at you. I'm just saying you remind me of that guy and his style. To each his own. :hi:
