'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

SIAP, but here's Garner's excuse for not recruiting Lawson at UGA:

"“What (Garner) said was that as defensive line coach at Georgia, they run a 3-4 defense, and the defensive ends are really large,” Lawson said. “He said when they came to recruit Carl, they were recruiting him as a linebacker – and that position wasn’t his call. The reason Carl wasn’t recruited by him is because they were recruiting 3-4 defensive ends, and they didn’t see Carl as a 3-4 defensive end.”"

Lol. You don't not recruit Carl Lawson, regardless of your scheme. Kid is a game changer

Wasn't Sal selling him on being a Jack LB here at UT? But he couldn't do that at UGA? Hahaha

Exactly. I don't see how you can make an excuse. He's listed at 6'3" 245, which is probably inflated a touch. We were playing J Williams and Jaq at JACK, and they are listed at 6'5" 256 and 6'2" 244 respectively.

Latest from Uzzi...

I like our chances, but because Carl is so reserved I am not gonna say its done that he is a vol.
He is very difficult to read, I just hope Dad can get him to see the logic.

All holder and I are saying is that UT is in it way before any analyst knew Carl even liked UT. Now it's just a matter of hoping he picks the right orange.

Thanks posting. Uzzi strikes me as a good "insider." He relays what he hears without making outrageous claims or predictions. I have more of a tendency to believe what he is saying.

Would love it if we could land this guy.

Might be a dumb question, but how many DL has Clemson produced for the NFL?
Daquan bowers and Gaines Adams (rip) were highly touted. Malachi Goodman this year will be drafted.
So will Vic Beasley in a couple years. Plus the staff can flat recruit.

Now how many DL guys have we put in the NFL? How many championships and pro bowls have they played in? I can think of a few. Reggie White, Leonard Little,Justin Harrell, Dan Williams, Jesse Mahelonia, C.Rittzman, Parys Harrelson and the list goes on and on.
So what point are you trying to make about Clemson

Because not many were in the last 5 years?

I'm worried more about Auburn...I could see him visiting them on the 25th weekend and that would all but wrap it up with him.

For the record I'm not trying to be a prick. But the argument of players to the NFL at almost at any position is weak. Especially with the likes of Clemson
