Of course Dee thinks Lawson is coming. I am curious to see how this plays out. My guess is no word by Jan 15 means we are out.

U know not having recruits that VFL in these all star games hurt us! These kids are making friends and they are all trying to recruit each other. CBJ needs to have a 4-way Skype with Lawson, Bell, North and Green and tell these kids you will be instant stars and could be legends for this program.

Lawson said after Tuesday's practice that nobody on the field can block him, and he was probably right. Lawson spent the entire day making his teammates look bad, whether it was the offensive linemen who tried to block him or the quarterbacks whose timing he disrupted on several plays with his constant pressure. If he can continue to execute on the same level, Lawson could be in for a monster game Friday night.

Not getting my hopes up about CL, but this kid is gonna be a star no matter where he plays. I just hope its for UT. He would make our defensive line pass rush plausible again, not to mention giving us a boost in recruiting. Need/want/get it done bUTch!

I'm not getting my hopes up either but he would be more important IMO than anyone else were in on to help that defense for the next 3 years.

I hope he commits on visit but no matter what I think We either come in first or second. And second ain't where we want to be.

Just curious, but what gives you that impression with Lawson? All news with him has been positive lately, no?

As a sidenote, if we do fail to bring in Lawson, Green, North, or Bell, is CBJ at fault in your opinion after playing catch-up with 2 months to work vs 2 years for the programs he's competing against? Or, does he get a pass in year one?

I'm just wondering where your gloom and doom stance is based, particularly with Lawson, and who you fault for the expected failure. Not a flame, just some honest questions.

I don't know if we will strike out or not. Of course our fanbase is usually going to expect the best outcome possible no matter what. We are usually very wrong. There is a very good chance that Green picks Michigan, North stays in NC, Lawson goes to Auburn, and Bell picks OSU. I don't think CBJ should get a "pass" this year in recruiting, but expecting him to pull in the best recruits in the country this late in the recruiting year would not be fair at all. I also think CBJ would be smart to fill the class with guys he thinks can play here now VS holding out hope to land a "big fish" on NSD and risk striking out having only 6 weeks to build relationships with these kids.

According to what has been posted about our relations with high school coaches, it may take more than 2 months to repair our ability to gain support-respect from the high schools. I think s Coach Jones is making good progress in improving our image with high school coaches and players, but it is nor going to be easy.

If he lands these kids then it'll tell us that he is a great recruiter. If he doesn't, then it doesn't tell us anything and I'll hold judgement until a year from now.

What's good Goat? I'm with you, I will expect not to get him while hoping to be surprised. Seems like CBJ is doing everything in his power here, so I would not throw him to the wolves if this doesn't get done.

Ok. I think Tennessee fans have become jaded and naturally pessimistic over the last 5-7 years, and perhaps rightfully so. Hopefully, the Jones era is the awakening we hope for, but I can understand guarded optimism.

Would probably have been a great thing to have gotten the ball rolling with the 4 star, Elite 11 MVP QB, but that ship has probably sailed. Strikes one and two for this coach.

The MVP of a shorts competition is irrelevant to me. Him being a four star is irrelevant, as rivals sucks at most evaluations. What are his numbers?

Posters in this thread are funny. We're in it heavily for the No.1/No.2 player in the country but our fans are saying " We won't get him". Crazy to me, until he says he's not coming then I believe we pull him.
