'13 GA DE Carl Lawson (Auburn commit)

More from Uzzi, responding to a thread about Auburn posters on rivals thinking Lawson is an auburn lock...

"i wonder how many of them talked to his dad yesterday. Wait...I did.

Truth: yes he likes AU, first offer etc

also true, all the coaches who recruited him are gone, he does not like Garner, he grew up a payton maning fan, his dad thinks UT > AU.

Like I said many times, nobody, no AU mod or UT mod nor any poster has any idea. We will know more after the UA game."

Manning would love for Lawson to be a Vol.. He reminds me of the old school nasty Vol d linemen we haven't had a lot of lately. Could bring our d back.

Tennessee continues to seem to have a good bit of momentum with defensive end Carl Lawson. Lawson and his dad have been communicating with the Vol coaches and those close to Lawson feel that Rodney Garner's move to Auburn does nothing to help the Tigers at all. However, Garner is obviously a good recruiter and will certainly try and sell Lawson on the fact that he wanted him but that others at Georgia didn't think he was the right fit for the Bulldogs scheme. Lawson's father is a big factor in Lawson's decision and right now Tennessee seems to have some momentum with both dad and with Carl.

payton manning...smh

Nope, he didn't even get the last name right "Payton maning".

I do, however, love the tone of the info from Hubbs lately. Everything I have read recently from him pertaining to Lawson seems to be very positive. Got my fingers crossed on this one.

Lawson would be a excellent pickup in more ways than one--obviously he's a big time player, but he would also help us sell ourselves to other defensive recruits. And in that area we need all the help that we can get after bringing in a new coaching staff whom are behind and now trying to play catch up in the building of relationships with many of the recruits they are going after. But most of all he is a stud pass rusher and we need one of those in the worst way. He is the most important recruit for us in this class IMO.

So Hubbs is saying exactly the same thing we said the day Auburn hired Garner... However, I'll take any good news we get on this front!

This guy could be a program changer for our D.

Could be the start of a great new Defense of the future at TN.

REEL...HIM....IN!

Listening to the Jancek interview on The Animal yesterday, he mentioned the "Leo" position, which I've seen mentioned other places. It's basically a DE standing up and edge rushing in passing situations. That would fit Lawson perfectly. I think the stars are lining up! (literally and figuratively)
